Is this the same school that made an 8 year old take his army toy soldiers off his hat???? Don't remember for sure. I reckon now the godless muslims will be able to bring their religious stuff to school too. Bombs, knives, self destruct manuels, how to books, etc. POWDERMAN.  :o :o :o :o :o :o

Fortunately the kid wasn't praying to Jesus, or he would have been tasered, pepper sprayed then hauled of to jail.

The decision brought forth in "the seperation of church and state" only applies to some churches. As we can see some churches are more equal than others. "Four legs gooood, two legs B-a-a-a-a-a-a-d"

Were I of school aged children and in that district, I would take them out of school very fast.

Sikhs are not Muslims.  Actually they have been persecuted and killed by Muslims in Northern India.  I think the reason for carrying a dagger is to protect themselves from anyone who tries to kill them for their beliefs.  You have heard of the Sikh seperatists who what their own country in Northern India and Pakistan.

Ain't that the truth! All they would have to do is wear a tee shirt with a picture of Jesus on it, that says Jesus Saves, and they probably would be tossed out.  Then you have those that continue to say, Oh I can't see where Christians are being discriminated against.

Absolutely! Not the point at all. The point is religious favoritism/preferance ,over a usually zero tolerance subject stance. Shouldn't be a problem then, with the school district, to allow Catholic kids carrying a fascimile of St Michaels sword. Or an AR with a Cross on Calvery engraved on the stock right?Pick a symbol and call it religion, after all the origional Planet of the Apes showed worship to a ICBM alter.                                                                                                                                                              Or I dare say, call it what it is, "for reasons other than Christianity".

I agree to all, just wanted to make sure everyone knew they weren't Muslims.  So it seems Muslims and Sikhs, etc, can do anything, but Christians can't.

What would be good is, kids show up in whatever clothing thier parents can afford that doesn't show body parts not generally acceptable in public. When school starts each classroom can start with the Pledge of Alegience (only in American classrooms of course) then have a few minutes of silence so the teacher and each student can pray, meditate or just be quiet to whichever diety they choose. That would just be a good start. The rest of the day can be spent on teaching treating others as you want to be treated and of course readin' rittin, and rithmetic. I guess thats just my utopian society.

As far as a dagger in the classroom well I think common sense should prevail. I think it would be alright in a small country school but city folks get some notions. ;D

SHU. Good post, I agree. 30 years ago this would not be an issue. All boys carried pocket knives. In world history class in hs we were encouraged to take things from WW11 for display. There were rifles and pistols from all the major player, including ammo. Bayonets, knives, daggers, etc. We brought them on the school bus. Not a one of us even thought about killing anybody. Different class of people today, different morals and values too. Sad, very sad. POWDERMAN.  :o :o :o :o :o :o

Thanks PM, i do got to admit taking a gun to school several times. I enjoyed hunting after school. Was never a problem, just turned it in at the principals office before school and picked it up on the way out. I don't think that could be done today.

What galls me so much is that the religious symbol, (knife), is allowed specifically because it is a religious symbol, and part of their beliefs.    So the school board is saying that they will tolerate the Sihks symbols.

Yet my daughter, when transferring to a public school is told she can no longer wear her cross (a gift from her grandma) on the chain around her neck,  BECAUSE IT IS A RELIGIOUS SYMBOL!!!!

I don't mind so much if the rules are the same for everyone but when you have a governmental body use double standards it really gets my ire up.
I'm just tryin' to keep everything in balance, Woodrow. You do more work than you got to, so it's my obligation to do less. (Gus McCrae)

Daggers don't kill people=people kill people. Seriously, If I were a parent in that district and my child was not able to wear a christian symbol- I would sue the district for discrimination. That's what has to start happening so these stupid exceptions to the rule stop.

Sikhs, are a very violent sect! We had one in the country illegally, living on a boat in west palm beach several years ago. I called ICE on him and they deported him. I later heard he had been kicked out of the country before.
