Encore 209 x 50 vs Knight Disc Extreme
« on: December 18, 2003, 02:59:42 PM »
My father is looking to purchase a new muzzle loader and is looking at the Knight disc Extreme, I told him that he should also consider the Encore with the 209 x 50 Magnum barrel.  For those of you that have experience with these guns, what are the pro's and con's of each?  Price is not really a concern for him.

Thanks,

Encore 209 x 50 vs Knight Disc Extreme

I don't have a Knight, but my friend does.  It has a laminated stock with the stainless steel metal.  He's been pretty happy with it so far.  However, he mentioned to me the other day that he's considering selling off one of his guns to get and Encore.  Suffering from Encoritis apparently.

Shortly after joining this site I got hooked on the idea of the Encore Mulit-Gun.  I originally bought the 209X50 for our muzzle loader season here in Arkansas.  Now I've added a 24" .223 barrel and 15" .308 barrel.  Seems to me like the Encore is a smart choice for those that don't want to drop about $500 each time they're looking for a new caliber rifle.  Usually about $225 per barrel.

Your father may also want to look at the T/C Omega.  It has smilar looks to a Knight (i.e. SS metal and laminated stock) but it's a falling breech type gun rather than a bolt.  No manual safety on the Omega, just cock the hammer and you're ready.  I think the Omega and Knight would be similar on price.  The Encore can be had maybe a little cheaper depending on if it's blued or SS, wood or composite, etc.

Other than the fact that a Knight Muzzle loader is always a Knight muzzle loader and can never be anything else I just had an experience last weekend that might be of help in your decision.
After arriving at deer camp and preparing for the a.m. hunt, my buddy discovered he didn't have any disks for his Knight, which ofcourse meant he couldn't hunt. Not saying that you or your father would ever forget. But why add one more thing to your list of bring alongs?
