French gray finish.....
« on: December 18, 2003, 03:58:47 PM »
I recently bought a rifled 20 gauge barrel for my Encore.  I got the barrel at a great price, but it has a high gloss blued finish.  My Encore has a stainless action.  I was thinking about having the barrel refinished in French gray by EABCO.  Does anyone have any experience with this process?  How close does the French gray finish match the satin stainless finish of the Encore?  Does the French gray process turn out to be non-reflective, like a satin stainless finish?  I think I read someplace that the French gray process is a type of electroless nickel.  If so, I assume that the end result of having this plating process done on my barrel would be both corrosion resistant and durable.  Thanks!
