Micro Dahlgren Cannon
« on: February 02, 2011, 02:16:19 PM »
I finally finished the 75 caliber Dahlgren this past week. It's approximately 1/12th scale. Half the size of the 1/6 scale golf ball Dahlgrens I did a few years back.   ;D

I agree with CW, Dom.  What a cool new cannon!  Bruce and I cast more than 40 Lbs. of .715 and .735 cal. rounds balls this past week.  Dom, we will have a few left over after this week is past; I bet they would fit your new naval artillery creation.  How much powder do you recommend?

I need a 4 gun, Port Hudson battery of these!!

Smokin' my pipe on the mountings, sniffin' the mornin'-cool,
I walks in my old brown gaiters along o' my old brown mule,
With seventy gunners be'ind me, an' never a beggar forgets
It's only the pick of the Army that handles the dear little pets - 'Tss! 'Tss!

That's a lot of lead balls.  PM sent. As for the powder charge, I don't know yet.  The bore size is rated for 100 grains, ball and 200 grains, salute.  I'm not sure of the weight of the cannon and how it will react to those charges.  Dom

Man that revolver in the back ground looks very familiar. I like the cannon too. Also like the small mortar too. ;)
