Count me as a 480 Ruger convert!! I just purchased a NIB 480 Ruger SRH 7 1/2 bbl last Friday. I have been shooting it and getting used to it.
It's a new 2011 run by the S/N range. The date on the spent case package is Aug 2011. I had heard through the grapevine that Ruger was making a limited run of 480's. I just had to have one. I am glad I got it. It is very comfortable to shoot. So far, I've been using 325 gr Hornady XTP's and some Cast Performance 410 gr WFNGC's. It shoots very well with the WFNGC's. I can't believe how well it shoots. It doesn't do too shabby with the Hornady XTP's either.
First shot was low and I adjusted the scope. This is not bad for me. I'm not the most accomplished pistol shooter. I would rather shoot the 480 with the 410's and stiff load of H110 than my 44 mag with 320 gr WLN's. Call me crazy, but the 480 SRH is more controllable than my 44 Mag SBH. Granted, the weight of the SRH with scope helps the recoil. My only complaint is the cost of bullets. I see an LBT mold for it in my future
