Model 29-3
« on: February 03, 2011, 11:44:56 AM »
Greetings,

I have a opprotunity to buy a blue 29 silhouette special, with the 10 5/8 barrel. I dont want to take advantage of this gent, so I want to give him a fair price. It appears to be like new, although it has been fired. I would estimate %98 condition. I have seen several on GunBroker but the prices seem to be all over [$650-$1100]. I thought I had enough Smiths, but this one is quite remarkable.

Blue book? Things to be aware of? Opinions? Time of day?

Thanks, P.A.

Check it for end shake, which should be none or minimal since the condition is so nice.
As for value, I've seen them all over the place. The long barrel makes it sort of like one of those love or hate things. I got mine for about $450 and some time later let it go which was probably a mistake.
Today I'd be expecting to pay $650 or somewhere near that for one in nice shape.

Good luck on this one.

I got it last week [2/25]. Paid a little more than $650, this is in %99 condition. Everyone is happy, including me. I am waiting for the weather to clear so I can shoot it. I never have worked with front sights like that. It may be like a six shot Contender. I wonder if all -3s are model 29s?
