M44 problem
« on: December 18, 2003, 08:59:57 PM »
I hate to make my first post on here a problem but I figured you guys might be able to help me. I've got a M44 and it has developed slack in the cylinder. When you try to close the cylinder the front of the cylinder hits the forcing cone. If you tilt the gun when you close it, barrel up, it doesn't do it but it shouldn't do it anyway, it didn't used to.

Check to see if the screw on the right side of frame that holds the crane and cylinder assembly in place is loose. Take the screw out and remove the crane and cylinder ass'y. Make sure you watch how all of it comes apart and put it back just the same. There is a small easily lost piece under the screw and another plunger and spring on the end of the crane.

Clean everything up and put it all back right. Make sure all is right and it might fix your problem. If not it needs to go back. Call and speak with Robert the head of customer service. Tell him you think Taurus should pay for the return. They have for me three times now.

Thank you very much GB, that fixed it right up! I bought the gun used a few years ago and have become pretty attached to it. I didn't know if maybe it was coming apart from being shot too much or what. Thanks again.
