I'm toying with getting my first auto pistol an I'm looking at the P345. I would like to talk to anyone who has experience with this gun an comparing it to other SIMULA autos.

kbstenberg,

Can't compair, as this is the first centerfire auto I have owned.

However, the P345 has been relyable except for a cast bullet glitch which was 100% my fault!

I do not shoot great distances with the P345, as it is totally a social gun, the goal being a rapid number of rounds in a small/killing area.

This it is doing just fine.

Again, the cast boolit situation was a reloading issue and not a firearm issue, and I doubt given the situation that any other .45 would have functioned with this defective ammo.

The problem was a small ring of lead at the case mouth which did not allow full chambering of the round, which in turn did not allow the slide to go into battery.

With good cast loads and jacketed loads, it is 100% reylable.

Keep em Coming!

I can't say enough about my P-345.  After the first several magizines , it has digested everything I've put through it, including load development experiments. At 15 yds it will practically put seven rounds in one large hole.  I must say it does a whole lot better with my loads than the factory stuff.  I've settled on 200 grain XTP over bullseye powder.....great load.  My practice loads are Berry's 230 grain RN over Bullseye.......I really love the gun.  I do not hesitate to use this as my self defense, go-to gun........I trust it that much.

regards , irold

I'm not one for guns with polymer parts but this is one I like. I had a Springfield Armory that I made a ton of loads for and they all do well in this gun. I used cast hollow points, truncated cones that look like semi wadcutters and round nosed cast bullets without a hiccup. Plus it fits my hand extremely well, and points naturally, like bullets coming out of my index finger.

I have had one for several years and it is very reliable and plenty accurate for the uses I put mine to.  I really like mine.

I just bought one used from cabelas. Nice gun, typical reliable ruger. Shot about 1.5 inches high at 25 yards with two different types of 230 grain fmj, but was right on with some 200 grain corbons I had leftover. Smooth action not much recoil, i suggest you get one. One other thing is mine throws the brass into the next county so saving your brass takes little more effort,
