2 days; ~1,500 boolets; I've become a Boolet Making Machine and I'm tired!

I scored an overflowing 6-gal bucket of mixed WW's for $20 from the local Tire Store and after sorting, got ~130#'s of suitable WW's (with some left over) to add to ~20#'s I already had and 150#'s of high octane lead. After smelting 99 x 3-pound 50/50 ingots, I loaded the RCBS furnace for the very first time (a 2010 Christmas gift).

I cast my "First Batch" of:
170 gr x 357 Mag SWC's
158 gr x 357 Mag WC's
and
170 gr. x 30-30 Win FN's

When all was done and put away, I had almost 1,500 boolets and another 90-plus 3-pound ingots (to add to the other 100-plus I already made).

In making 50/50 ingots I have gone through my first FULL 29-gal propane tank and I am STILL having a BALL. Tonight, when my back catches up with me, I will sit down and load some 357 Mag. Handi-rifle ammunition.

I have GOT to get a 45 LC mould to feed my other Handi.

ok landowner that is what I have been waiting on to here it is in your blood now and you can never go back the more you do this the more you will want to you are now a casting junkie and I am so happy to here of your progress the one thing you might want to get is a thermometer so you can keep the zinc out of your mix and insted of using the 20 lb propane tanks get one of the bigger ones will last you a lot longer how are the ingot moulds holding up if you ever need any help just let me know D Crockett

Thanks D.Crockett.  It took most of Sunday for my back to catch up to me.  I was on the heating pad most of the day.  I thought the Superbowl game was an anti-climax to an otherwise terrific but tiring weekend of casting.  Yes, I am hooked and am now a junkie for casting.  I don't know if the WC's are "all that great".  I suspect the 4-cav. 357 Mag mould should have been hotter, much hotter.  However, they will, when lubed, be fitted to cases, powdered, primed (but not necessarily in that order), then shot.  Proof will be in the target through the Ruger SP101 and Handi-rifle barrels respectively.

With over 600#'s of lead on hand, scrounging for an additional 600#'s of WW's, and 200 x 3-pound 50/50 ingots already cast, that equates to over 35,000 x 158 grain PLUS over 41,000 x 170 grain boolets.  I think I might be dead before I cast and shoot that many.

if your "shootn" even  comes close to keeping up with  your "casting" your gonna be one dandy shot. The pigs find out about your new found passion they will never again root-up your property.

Nice going L.O. and I can't imagine casting that many boolits! I just started recently too and have been busy casting with several different molds, reloading test batches, etc. I can't wait till the weather breaks here a little to try them out. It is fun and addicting part of the hobby for sure.

Roger that.  Smelting ingots outside in the fresh air and boolets just inside the open garage door, which is 12'-wide and 10'-tall.  Should be well ventilated.  I'll post a picture this evening of the ingot set up.

Pace yourself, no need to get it all done this month. I cast about 120 every couple days. Good idea to wear breathing filter, even out in the open.
