Firing pin sizes
« on: February 06, 2011, 02:41:53 AM »
I am thinking about using one of my 357 SB2 frame for a 12 gauge shotgun shorty project.  The receiver say only use 357, 44 Mag, or shotgun barrels, so I know this is okay.  I am curious if anyone has noticed any issues with the smaller firing pin on the 357 frame shooting 12 gauge shells?

thanks,
-Kyle

The frame that has the statement for using 357mag, 44mag and shotgun only is an SB1 frame with a rifle size firing pin, it will work fine with any shotgun barrel, H&R has been fitting shotgun barrels to SB2 frames for over 20yrs, that's not a problem either.  ;) SB2 marked barrels don't necessarily come on SB2 frames, all H&R 357mags and 44mags made since 2008 come on SB1 frames.
