I've been to a couple of cock fights , it's not really my thing.
I even had friends who raised and fought the birds they made good money at it.
As for me I prefer to pop their heads off and fry them up in a skillet. In any case a dead chicken puts food on the table one way or another.
There's a strange bit irony in this incident but it's unfortunate that the feller had to lose his life.

Just because some don't like it dosent make it wrong .
I find it funny that we consider men fighting OK but critters no. We consider a deer eating a grain field wasting the farmers income an acre at a time acceptable but a few rats eating a bushell reason to poison them . We can shoot hogs in a pen and call it a canned hunt but a deer is different.
Guess I just don't think the people choosing what is ethical have a clue and do so on what they like . I can catch flack for hunting deer with dogs but its ok for ducks , bobcats , cougar etc. ITS OK TO SHOOT DEER AND BEAR OVER BAIT , go figure .
So if someone watches a dog fight I don't get so upset . And no I don't watch it nor a cock fight .

BTW cock fighting is natural for them , put two roosters in the same pen and see what happens . Dogs also decide who will be the alpha male .

Dog fighting is barbaric and the individuals that participate are pathetic we cannot compare them to hunters

Men have free will and therefore can decide to get into a pen to fight another man dogs cannot decide. Is it natural or acceptable for a dog fighter to throw a weaker breed into the pen with his fighting dog to rile it up? Is it ok for them to steal other people's dogs for this purpose. If someone stole my dog for this purpose and I found them I would probably later be labled as a murderer for the retaliation I would pour down upon them Is it ok for them to go down to the shelter and "adopt" dogs for this purpose? Is it ok for these individuals to strangle, hang, and visit other cruelties on their fighting dogs because the dog lost the fight?

dogs fighting may be natural as they are pack animals and need to establish a pack heirarchy but I doubt the would seldom fight to the death as they are forced to in a staged dog fight because if they did they wouldnt have much of a pack left to run with

being a christian ,i don t choose to go to these events .. i did grow up around it though..
the fellows that did it were a pretty rough bunch..

Sport Hunting is barbaric , spear or bow hunt ? We see wounded game every year. Trapping is also . So what ? Its how man survived for much of his existance. We use critters for our enjoyment , we eat them ! I just don't agree that one way is better than another ,

I have to disagree that hunting is barbaric. Death is a is part of the cricle of life. It is natural that some die so that others may live, and when it comes to a being that is capable of reasoning inflicting deatht an animal so that he can survive, unnessacary cruelty shouldnt be part of the equation. Unfortunately some people get off on unnessacary cruelty. I recently stopped speaking to a good friend of 20 years because of an incident with a wounded deer but that is another story.

lakota hunting to survive fits your thought sport hunting does not IMHO . I see no difference in dog fighting and killing birds or deer and not eating them. That's just my thinking. I don't like to see a critter suffer and advocate quick kills. I don't like dog fights or chicken fights but don't like sport hunters wasting game then talking bad about the dog fighter. A dog in a fight has a chance a deer with a arrow in it will suffer even for a short while . I don't have anything aginst bow hunting but it what it is and yes I have done it and may do so some more . Its all about what people will accept . We have tried so hard to make hunting , fishing look like something it is not then turn around and fault the cock fighter go figure.

I agree on trophy hunting.killing an animal for it's head gear is wasteful and also disrespectful to the animal. Hunting and fishing for food is a natural predator/prey relationship. Humans are predators regardless of what some greenies might claim.

Thrusting two dogs or two roosters into a pen in some basement and letting them fight to the death is hardly natural. If these fights were to happen in a natural setting the weaker animal would be able to flee and this would allow the stronger one to claim dominance over the pack/female/territory whatever they were fighting over.

I hadnt heard about that. I think it is despicable the way most celebrities and athletes can get away with things.

I am still shocked Plaxico Burress is doing time for shooting himself in the leg.
