WH found in contempt of court over drilling
« on: February 09, 2011, 09:29:40 AM »
Quote
"Each step the government took following the court's imposition of a preliminary injunction showcases its defiance," the judge said in his ruling. "Such dismissive conduct, viewed in tandem with the reimposition of a second moratorium . .. provides this court with clear and convincing evidence of its contempt."

The issue of drilling and the push for a moratorium has been out of the spotlight lately. Anybody been tracking this?

Would think the oil companies attorney's would be on this. Maybe they figure there's no chance. After all who do you think the courts will back?

I would like the see the Judge order a bench warrant for the Head of the Energy department and ask why the permits are not eing reissued.  And then give him personally 10 days for that to be issued or he will e held in contempt of court and Jailed untill he complies with the law.

They are above the law. Nobody can do any thing and they know it. What can you do? Who will do it? Remember, 51 votes gave you obozocare. Nobody could do anything.

If the folks who filed suit over the health care bill push it the WH will be in contempt there too.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

What would stop the oil companies from just starting up the oil rigs again?

Thats what I want to know. Why haven't they? Why hasn't their attorney's persued this? Were they offered other concessions?? The less that is refined drives the price more.

Could be,
Gas is one of the most elastic goods out there.  You need X gallons a Month.
But on the same side these companies are at full production of fuel.  We need new refineries to keep up with population growth.  But it is cheaper for these companies to go get the oil rather than buy it from someone else.

Well the WH is getting it's way.  EPA  pulled the permit for Shell to drill this summer in the Beaufort Sea off the northern coast of Alaska.  Shell shelved the plans for this summer and won't say when they might consider another attempt to drill there.  The oil in the pipe is going down, and with no one drilling it will soon be dry.
Where is old Joe when we really need him?  Alaska Independence    Calling Illegal Immigrants "Undocumented Aliens" is like calling Drug Dealers "Unlicensed Pharmacists"
What Is A Veteran?
A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

I don't cry for these oil companies. They consider themselves multi-national companies with no loyalty to the US. They are a bunch of selfish pigs.

Yes but they also provide badly needed jobs. Good paying jobs. Ask the guys in off shore drilling. Whether they are multinational or not we need the oil and revenue it brings in. Oh, did I mention the badly needed jobs?

And they provide not just jobs, but real non parasitic jobs that actually produce something of value.
