Woohoo, the .223 is a shooter.
« on: February 11, 2011, 12:08:07 PM »
It finally got above 10° (17°  ::) )

So I braved the weather and waist deep snow to go out and test the new trigger job and floated fore-end.

I only cracked off two rounds at 95 yards with my back against a tree, and I'm happy (and my trigger finger was frozen)

No point is wasting ammo on something that will definitely smack a coyote. If the snow ever goes away I am going to thoroughly test the sweet .223 scope and see how well it holds zero after being adjusted.

That's a wild scope set-up. Is that a Burris PEPR turned backwards?

It is, it gives me the perfect relief length.

It came free with my scope and I love how solid it is, so I found a way to make it work. :D

Yep! My Handi in .223 will shoot 0.75 inch groups at 100 yards all day long as long as I feed it reloads with premium bullets. One time, one time only, I got a five shot group that all touched at 100 yards. Reloads with cheap bullets give me about 1.25 inch groups. Even Wolf black box ammo prints less then 2 inch groups.

24" Barrel with 1:9 twist.

I was shooting cheap Russian ammo last time and kept getting fliers, I am almost positive it was the trigger though. Squeezing that thing out of the box was like a toughness contest. I would like it even lighter but I'm afraid of the hammer staying locked.
