Is it normal for the new style composite forends to move around even when tightened, and is there a cure?                  Alias

Short of bedding the forend or drilling the recess out and bedding the stud only or using a pillar, you can shim the forend stud with aluminum furnace tape so it's a bit tighter in the forend, or you can add aluminum furnace tape to the mating surface where it fits against the frame, if you trim the tape just slightly narrower than the frame and just use a rectangle of tape instead of adding it to the legs, it will work fine, I've tightened them up that way. Be aware that making changes to the forend will change accuracy, I'd rather have a forend that doesn't fit perfect than a rifle that doesn't shoot well, see forend fit and all the forend tips in the FAQs.  ;)
