Asprin Shoot

Any of you guys ever partisipated in an Asprin Shoot?  I'm looking for more info about them.

For those that like me did not know what that is.  You take an Asprin, glue it to a tooth pick and stick it up at 100 yards.  It's either a hit of a miss.  Looks interesting, trying to find out if there is any being shot up here.  If not I am looking at getting some interet started in having a match this spring here in the Fairbanks area.

Never heard of them. Sounds like fun though! 100 yds?? Don't know if I could make the grade on that. Clays on the berm @ 100 is about as small as I go with open sights. Or even a scope for that matter, anymore.
     Might adapt the idea to 25 or 50 yds for small bore though. We used to shoot the "Neco" candy wafers w/ .22's when I was a kid. That offered quite a bit of fun. Golf balls are another fun "reactive target" for small bore. We start 'em at around 20 yards or so and shoot till they're out of sight. Hit 'em center and they really go!

Don't know but the "Benelli Guy" would take out a casted lure before it hit the water with Bill Dance using a .22lr rifle. That was impressive!

I was reading about it in another forum.  They start at 50 yards.  Then all the guys that scored hits move on out to 100 yards.  He said .17HMR and .22Short were the favored rounds.

That sounds pretty tough. My club does egg shoots at 200 yards as a fundraiser. 4 guys shoot, someone wins every time. I use a .223, but a .17HMR would probably be easier.

Shooting an egg at 200 yards would not be much differant than shooting an asprin at 100 yards.

There's a you tube video of a guy shooting asprin, but I can't remember at what distance. I think he was using a custom built rifle in 17hmr. gypsyman

I seen Byron Ferguson shoot an Asprin out of the air with a bow.
My dad would shoot empty .22 cases at 50 yards with iron sighted .22 offhand.
With a tight zero on an accurate scoped rifle and a good rest an asprin should be easy enough at a hundred yards.

A full bore 12ga. slug should do it. On a called shot I shot out a 12ga. primer at 100yds. with a .17Rem. and thats a tad smaller than an asprin.

I do not remember who the shooter was but on some TV show a few years back the shooter was shooting .22s through the hole in a quarter size washer that was flipped in the air like you would a coin. To prove that the bullet actually went through the hole the hole was taped and crushed cue chalk placed between the tape so you could actually see the hit in the air. The shooter also shot different types of fruits and veggies that were tossed in the air using a Remington 30-06 semi-auto. Made salad pretty well!

It was Tom Knapp Guzzi.

I would feel comfortable shooting aspirin with a scoped 17 hmr on a calm day.
I've got a pic of a couple targets I shot with my Savage on a couple calm days at 84 yards.
Both are very tight patterns. One was a cloverleaf and the other almost one hole.
If I can find them I'll post them up.
But it doesn't take much of a breeze to start moving those little bullets around the farther you shoot.
