I just wanted to clear up the thing with Jr. about Jimmy Swaggart.  Jimmy Swaggart admitted he had an affair with a New Orleans prostitute while preaching in NO.  At least he admitted it.  He was a member of the Assembly of God, which in turn kicked him out of their church.  He restarted his ministry independent of any denomination.  So there is no reason to mention JS except there is no longer an arguement just blame, like the libs blame Bush for everything, yet do not admit to their failings which are far greater.

Here's a novel idea. Why not outlaw criminals? Wait...they are outlawed...judges just spank them and turn them loose to continue being criminals!

Jawbone of an ass , it would seem that like all critters a number would be issued and kept for the critters life. All products that came from said critter live or after death would need to bear this number for tracking and the buyers recorded at time of sale incase the one injured  with the jawbone later showed sign of crazy ass die.............
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

Wonder what kind of permits the Benihana Chefs are required to carry.
Do they need to register their cutlery as lethal weapons ?  ;D

Murder, with death penalty has long been on the books..... Is it still happening? Passing laws changes little. Despite what the law says criminals will always take their chance. They have never conformed, why would you think they would if you passed a law?

If current laws were enforced and penalties upheld, all the argument over magazine capacity, gun control, theft, etc without the plea bargaining that goes on crime would go way down. The criminals would be locked up without repeat offenders, lawyers would be looking for new work becuase there would be alot less for them to do.

SHU. YEP, agreed. Unfortunately with plea bargaining, it's usually the criminal getting the bargain. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:(

Almost 30 years ago, a friend of mine's son, was killed, when he was walking home from school. He was jumped, beaten up, and one of the gang that did it, picked up a concrete block, and hit him in the head, killing him. It was over a pair of tennis shoes.
It was brought up at the school, if the students,(they all went to the same high school), wore uniforms, this wouldn't have happened. Even 30 years ago, idiots were making excuss's for people committing crime. It's the knife's fault, guns fault, kids parents fault 'cause they could afford name brand shoes, etc.,etc.
Just when you think you've idiot proofed something, they make a better idiot!! gypsyman

Funny thing, I have never known a law abiding citizen to commit a crime. Maybe congress needs to think about this some.

I am currently waiting on my state mandated 10 day cooling off period. I prurchased a single shot rifle. I am sure I will be cooled off in a few more days. lol

Shu its all about temptation and not being able to resist . That mean old gun or knife laying there will temp you into doing bad things . Those high round count mags are the worst along with AR's  ;D
Now consider who better knows about giving in to temptation than congress ?

Now see, the folly in that is that I could be in a great mood when buying it,  but seriously ticked off after waiting 10 days to actually get it! They are creating the beast they're trying to avoid! ;D

Waiting 10 days only gives me more time to plan... what scope, what grain bullet, what will the weather be when I go to shoot, should I take several targets or will one be enough,
do I need to go through alot of load development, sling or not, sand bags or bipod.
See what this 10 day waiting period does!!!!!

Japan reportedly has a higher murder rate than the US despite guns being non-existant for the most part. I remember this topic, of sorts, on GBO about 10 yrs ago when the Aussie's past their "gon control" law. Murders jumped 30 or some odd percent....... Murders, as Shu, Dee, etc would know, are not commited by the availability of a "gun". A tee-ball bat can wipe out a room if it is available to someone set on committing the crime. Guns have nothing to do with it.  Somehow there is this big belief that murders are only caused by guns or knives..... Wow, they are so uninformed....

If laws stopped criminals, why are there still criminals? That is fairly obvious to me. There are hundreds of laws on the books but they aren't applied. California has a law that if a man "introduces carnal knowledge" to a female under the age of 10 he can recieve the penalty of castration. Never been applied in California but it is on the books. Should be applied, about 2 weeks before the execution. Just my opinion.

When Utah executed Gary Gilmore back in the late 70's there were 4000 volunteers for the firing squad. Yes some whackos but alot of concerned citizens volunteered also.

Japan reportedly has a higher murder rate than the US despite guns being non-existant for the most part. <snip>

Yes, but they have a much bigger problem than guns....

NINJAS!

Just as deadly as guns, but much stealthier, and they can become *invisible*.....
Perhaps Japan needs to outlaw Ninjas.... but then again, if Ninjas are outlawed, only outlaws will (have/employ/be) Ninjas

Thankfully, the Ninja Scourge™ does not have appear to have infiltrated the U.S. (for now), but then again, given the Ninja ability to become invisible, can we really be sure that they're not already here! and we simply can't see them?... :o ;)

I could be wrong, but if I remember right, I've had friends in England tell me they couldn't even own non-firing replicas. However I think that pertains to pistols only. I just read, on line, that they are allowed to own as many shotguns as they get licenses for and can securely store. And Lakota is right about gun clubs. Your firearms have to be stored there. Getting caught with an illegal firearm is a minimum of 5 years and a maximum of 10 years plus what ever fine they choose to throw at you, with no limit to how much it can be.

I Know Pistols are banned  their olympic team comes here to practice with Firearms but can pactise with air pistols. Guns have to be in a secured  (fastened to an interior wall)  container or secure Closet for want of a better word. I had one of those wally world gun lockers  I anchoer in a nook under the stairs. (Brit housed rarley have closets as we Know them.)
The gun club require ment is to show  you have a safe place to  use the gun  I was lucky  the Farmer in the village Vouched that I could use his farm to hunt on

Not really, Junior. I think that sterotype has been on comedy skits enough to lose it's luster. Powder blue suits, wife with way too much makeup, wearing a tie from the '70's, etc. I am just curious how many vodka shots it tooks for a producer to put him on the air.
