Only the young guys with the steel shoulders..........LOL.

Sounds like a deadly combo, but I've gotten recoil squeamish in my old age.

How does it pattern?

I have a tru glo ported turkey choke in my mossy 835 and 3" #5 federals patern better than the 3.5" so for me less recoil and better pattern.

Doesn't matter.  It'll shoot tight and be lethal to around 50-55 yards.  Choke tubes compete with camo as the most hype driven piece of outdoor equipment.

It will kick the snot out of you.

it patterns well, i was wondering if anyone else used them. a buddy of mine gave me a 3" nitro shell and asked me to pattern it. he swears by them but at 7.50 each i can't afford'em. my coworker uses the win supreme elite and an undertaker choke and won't think of using anything else.

I have a Mossy 835. I went out and bought some(5 different kinds) reasonably priced 3" #5 ammo and picked out the one that pattered the best at 40yds.

I think any combo of shell and choke will work.  People have been killing turkeys with front stuffers and in one magizine it shows a kid with a 410 and a good sized tom.
I use 12 ga 3" heavy shot in #4
Like what they did for my first turkey hunt a few years ago and will use them from now on.
Yes, they are expensive but when we screwed up with the decoy placement, I am convinced the heavier pellets were what put the tom on the ground at the really long distance.
Other than the Heavy shot I was thinking of useing up some of my old #4 or #2 Lead  3" goose loads from the 80's.
Figure a turkey is about the same size as a canadian goose.

I have a 3" model 1100 with 30" full choke.  Will pattern nicely out to 50 yards.  I used to use 2oz load of Federal #6, but I have used 4's and 5's and duplex loads as well.  I now prefer to call the tom in close.  Once you've picked a few wild turkeys, killing them is not as much fun as calling them in for someone else.

Amen brother. Theres no rocket science to it. All choke tubes work the same way by squeezing the shot down into the smallest exit hole possible. It doesn't matter what kind of fancy porting or holes drilled in it or what kind of price it has, it works by constricting the shot load into the tighest hole possible so it will carry farther down range before spreading out again. Period. 3" turkey loads are about all I can handle, I can't imagine shooting 3 1/2 inch magnum loads out of any gun.

My 835 shooting 3 1/2" shells kills at both ends!  ;D Seriously though, I have never once felt it go off when shooting at a turkey and i've killed more than a few with it. Patterning it though, that's a whole another story.  :o Not a gun and load you shoot for fun!   ;)

Me either. And the day my excitement and adrenaline levels drop to the point that I do notice it when pulling the trigger on a gobbler I'll quit hunting turkeys.
