WELCOME!!!
Grab a cup of coffee and sit a spell with the FAQ's Tim has gathered a wealth of information on these neat little rifles!
I generally do as you have done, SHOOT IT!!

If it shoots, I clean it and put it back in the safe and enjoy it frequently.
When I need to address accuracy issues, I look at a few things.
First and for most, clean and inspect the barrel, really well. ESP in a used gun as I have no idea what the PO cared for it. Look at the throat and muzzle for wear. Re crowning can fix years of poor cleaning habits quickly. I'll always replace the main spring with a Wolff extra power spring and do a trigger job if the trigger is heavier or has alot of creep.
Then remove and re attach the base, rings and scope. Using solvent to clean the holes and screws then blue lock tite. Cleaning the holes and threads allows torquing and confidence that they will stay where you tighten them to. Then use a known good scope.
Then I would look to the latch and barrel lockup with a eye to consistency. I want good even engagement across the entire width of the latch all at a release lever 3/4 to 7/8's from fully seated or in the top, upper position.
Forend fit is next. Set screw and O ring along with some sand paper for any high spots. Then overall tightness at the receiver. This is a personal thing IE it would be be snug not tite and not loose. You are adjusting the distance from where the forend touches the front of the receiver and the stud to attach the forend to the barrel. Again personal experience guides me here.
Lastly I would assembly good handloads and work at the loads until I found a good one. That's the fun part!!
Thanks for your years of "thank less" service!

(All of this and so much more, is in the FAQ's) Good luck with your Handis,
