check the used rack for insight on carry.
« on: February 15, 2011, 03:14:43 AM »
Ok ya ask everyone you know that carries a weapon or owns one. You realize that everyone has their opinion and they differ. One is big is better , one is small is the only way to go . and then their are severl ideas about carry that falls in the middle. So you go to the store and meet the counter commando . So what can you do ? If possible check out several stores , used racks of guns . Look for what is not there . Things that work seldom get traded in other than to get a better one. I have been watching for several years in an effort to pick up a good J frame at a good price . This is a tuff thing to do. So in reality I stumbled on the idea of looking for whats not there. So if you are unsure or new to the idea of carry seek people who know and will share information but also check out what is not being traded in , it might be a way to save yourself from filling the used gun rack at your local gun store  ;)
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

This goes along with my thinking on buying a car.  You don't go to the dealer's front line and admire what he is pushing.  Instead you go to the mechanics parking lot and see what the guy working on them is driving.

BTW, the J frame thing must be a local choice because the cases are full of them and their clones around here.

Whats here near to ? Here its 1911's , plastic guns ( most police trade ins ) , alot of mouse guns , there are the mod 10 and 64's that seem to be everywhere, few 66's or 19's . Alot of big bore guns in all makes . The few j frames or SP101's comand a high price , even in 22 .

Why settle for just one choice?  More choice is better.  I most often carry a 38 special snubby, but that's when I want to keep it simple and discreet.

I like it simple.
I like wheel guns.
Less problems with them.
I mostly carry a short barrel Blackhawk or Redhawk in 45 colt.
If I don't have one of them then it's a med frame semi in 40 S&W.
No matter which I carry I always have my little 2 shot derringer in 32 mag with me!
Up close it will get the job done!
