Ring in the Spring Cannon shoot 2011 is  March 19 this year.

From now on Ring in the spring shoot is the Saturday of or before  Spring Solstice in  North America

Everybody get your cannons out and dusted off.  Get some  rounds made up for all you cannons and get ready to shoot.

Then at 2 PM Eastern/1 PM Central/12 Noon Mountain/11 AM Pacific, Saturday March 19 with all your guns on line, every one fire a volley!

I'll edit my opening post so there is no confusion.

Count me in. I just ordered two golf ball mortars, one for each of my brothers, so maybe they will join in too. I got them as a reverse birthday present for my birthday. Figured instead of getting another cannon for myself, I might as well get my brothers into it too. Who knows, might just get two more members on GBO.

I have to agree with you GG. I don't usually get up before that.

Mar. 20, 10: AM, SUNDAY morning...I either wake up the neighbors, or wait till after church....decisions...we have the town busybody right next door, so....the temptation is great for an early morning "Salute" to spring! ". To quote the Bard..."To be, or not to be, _________........" BoomLover

It worked last year quite well, why fight success, lets do it the same this year.  In fact from now on lets make the Ring in the spring shoot the Saturday of or before  Spring Solstice in  North America

March 20 is the first day of spring and a Sunday.

Every body get your cannons out and dusted off.  Get some  rounds made up for all you cannons and get ready to shoot.

Then at 2 PM Eastern/1 PM Central/12 Noon Mountain/11 AM Pacific, Saturday March 19 with all your guns on line, every one fire a volley!

If you all fire your cannons on the first day od spring it will cause a thermal heat wave and will melt this stuff off..

Yeah, we had a recent heat wave that melted almost all the snow from the "Chicago Blizzard of 2011" (I didn't even attempt to shoot at the range for the 'Cannon Cancer Shoot'), and now we just got a little more, accompanied with a cold snap. I wonder what AlGore has been up to lately? :P
RIP John. While on vacation July 4th 2013 in northern Wisconsin, he was ATVing with family and pulled ahead of everyone and took off at break-neck speed without a helmet. He lost control.....hit a tree....and the tree won.  He died instantly.

The one thing that you can almost always rely on research leading to, is more research.

I'm getting ready!! Rotometals sent me the this box of zinc pop can balls to my sons house.

I painted up K.I.S.S. No,1 yesterday so it looks pretty, even added a fresh coat of historically correct linseed oil to the carriage.

Was that historically correct boiled linseed oil or historically correct raw linseed oil?  (actually a serious question)

I guess they need to take the Diversity training class.

Unfortunatly I do have to work on Saturday.  I really don't think a nuclear power plant would appreciate me bringing artillery on site not to mention the black powder and fuse.  So I will be a little late but 3 rounds will be fired from the GB mortar and my 6.5 oz juice can mortar at 3PM CT.

Sparky, that should work, I mean even earthquakes have after shocks.

Jim, Port Orford should be secure.  Compare to stories i have heard involving the  Knapps your littel pops will be mild.   Did you get me that address?
