IAB Gardon VT 45-70?
« on: December 20, 2003, 10:36:11 AM »
I have the option to buy a Sharps reproduction rifle and was hoping I might get some info from the group. Its made by IAB Gardon VT of Italy and looks to be imported by Pars Intl, Lou KY according to marking on the barrel. Its in 45-70 and W/28inbrown bbl. In 98% condition but, the 1st stage of the 2 stage trigger must be about 20lbs atleast. anyway to adjust this ? Price is $550 To high? low ?? What the ongoing opinion on this repo? Thanks Looking to get into the 45-70 sharps shooting without breaking the bank......... at 1st LOL

I wonder if this is the same gun I sold a few years ago at a Des Moines gun show?  Any way,  IAB is world famous for their O/U shotguns. Their quality is decent, very authentic repros. Some have minor problems with fit and finish (like the 1st stage trigger you mentioned). Considering a real Sharps goes for $3000 or more, the $550 price doesn't sound bad. I sold my IAB 1863 rifle for $450. It was a "wall hanger" but would shoot decent.

One word, DON'T! They are pieces of junk(I bought one by mistake). I talked to Richard at Beauchamps(inporter, parts, repair of Pedersoli etc)about  parts for mime and he told me horror stories about IAB. Ed in CA>

:-D  Bought it for $500........  Traded it unfired for a Pedersoli Sharps in 45-90 w/ some 45-90 brass. Got $150 more in trade than I paid.
World of difference between the two!!!
