I see on the Hornady website data for this bullet and Hornady Brass. I understand the reason for the brass being shorter for lever action rifles. I do not see why this bullet cannot be loaded into R-P brass at the longer length for single shot rifles such as the H&R. Opinions are welcome. Thank you.

You're entirely right, the FTX can be loaded longer in single shots because there is no magazine/feeding issue. In fact, that's the way I load them for an Encore.

just watch not to make to long and bullet is pushed into rifleings or you will have a pressure spike.

Thanks for the tip y'all. I wasnt expecting 3/4 inch groups from this Handi Rifle but thats what I got. I didnt see any pressure signs out of the max load either. Which just happened to be the best group. I think I could go a little hotter but see no need. I think the extra length may be keeping the pressure from running up. Needless to say I am pleasantly surprised.

H&R 444s are very accurate, mine shoots 240gr and 265gr jacketed into one hole at 100yds, 355gr cast almost as good.
