Nice it looks like a rock solid scout mount.  I purchased the st marie drill and tap scopemount for my swiss k31.  Now i'm trying to deceide which muzzle brake/dampener to use.  It seems a barrel dampener is highly recommended.  CZY

That mount is nice, but I doubt they are selling many at $200 a pop. Who wants a scope mount that cost as much as the rifle? I scoped mine with a St. Marie  because it works and I don't have to ship my gun off to get it installed.

I also use the St. Marie mount.  I have it zeroed in at 100yd, but I wonder if going beyond that range being mounted off center, if it will effect placement, actually I know it will effect placement, just how much at say 200 or 300yd.

One thing though, with an old 3x weaver it really looks cool.

I'm hoping to build a 1,000 yd target rifle ( i don't like the word sniper) with one of my swiss k31's but i need to benchrest then all first to see which one shoots the best with the swiss GP11 ammo.  Then i'm going to load up some 175gr FMJBT and see how she groups at 100yds with the irons too.  If she is a one holer thats my swiss k31 for my build.  I would like to build two of them with one for hunting from 100yds to possibly 500yds. using 180gr sp bullets. I don't think there is a better 30cal rifle to do a build on than the swiss k31's.                CZY

BTW;  If you have a non adjustable scope that doesn't have the manual BDC (bullet drop compisation) you can get the scope lens with the distance cross bars that are marked for the windage for making longer accurate shots.  I have the older top of the line back them Bushnell scopes with the manual BDC on my 338win mag and on my 30-06.  I can go from 100/150yds to 500yds with no hold over by dialing in the distance on a turn of the knob on the BDC.  I also found these scopes to be crystal clear at dusk and low light situations too.  This means i can stay longer/later in the woods in a low light situation and know what i'm shooting at.

If you want to stay with the non adjustable scope i'd dial the info in on a ballastics caculator to see how high the bullet is at 100yds if its zero'd in at 200yds.   I played with it on my 7mm mauser and found out my best zero is at 125yds and the bullets total path varies between 1/2'' to 5/8'' from the muzzle to 125yds.  Thats one flat shooting round.

I don't make sound shots or believe in them but i will shoot back if shot at.  One of my buddy's sons was shot by a guy who believed in sound shots. Man that pisses me off just thinking about it when others are so careless. Please besafe in the woods. I see guys with no orange charging thru the thick brush.  My kid was up on the ridge above these clowns and we had two way radios and i told him these guys had no orange and there comming. below hi9m. I also told them my kid was up on the ridge above them. I pays off to use radio's when we hunt together.

prairiedog  I had the clamp on version that shot 1/2" all day long if I did my part.  At 200 I got consistent 1" groups about 1/4" left of center.  I have a D&T version on another that i have not shot but expect the same results except it should print about 1/4" the other direction.  doubt very seriously if it would be wide by over an inch @ 300.  All with reloaded, tried and tested ammo.

What bullet weight and powder are you uisng?

I would like to test my reloads to the orginal swiss gp 11 ammo to see if there is any difference.  Most do say the GP 11 ammo will give us 1/2'' to 5/8'' groups @ 100yds if the gun is good (no scope)which most of the time they are.  But at my age i'm not sure if i can still shoot that good.  With most of my rifles i can only get 1 1/2'' groups at 100yds.  I don't lie because when one of my rifles shoot 1 1/2'' groups its no fluke because my son will back it up with the same group size as i get.  This way when i say i shoot that group size its in concrete that i did do it. But with my 338win mag i can put two rounds thru the same hole at 100yds. go figure.  maybe i need to shoot that one gun more to break the 1 1/2'' group curses. I know that we can bring to many guns to the range on one trip and never really focus with any of them. I have noticed this with handguns and accuracy already.   Bill

I have the St Marie clamp on mounts on both of my K31'S. Rock solid and my zero does not move. Rec-O-mended mount. But I did put rubber tape on the ejector side bottom of the scopes cuz of the ejected cases hitting them. But no real problem with that.

I have found that the suggested accuracy loads in the Sierra manual are very accurate in my K-31s. They suggest IMR 4064 powder for 168 gr bullet and lighter and IMR 4350 for the heaver bullets. I really like the 155 gr Nosler custom competition bullet in mine but I shoot mostly under 200 yards. The 175 Sierra would be a good one for longer ranges. The Berger VLD bullets most closely match the GP-11 bullet.  Oh!, by the way the COAL listed in all the manuals are too long for the K-31. They have SHORT throats. Make you up a split neck case to use as a measuring device to find your COAL.

One of these days when the weather finally warms up (snow on the car this morning 4/23) we'll take the swiss watch rifle out for a test drive with the GP 11 ammo. I want to shoot it with no scope first.

I peered through a $400 scoped k31 with the right side clamp on St. Marie K31 mount at a gun show. Nice wood, cheaper than I could put it together, HATED the side mount on the wrong side. I shoot side mounts on the other side in a Win 94 and Savage 340, and like those.

My K31 likes Ball C2 and 147 gr. boatails from Widners.  I use a St Marie clip on. We shoot 600 yard gongs. My rifle did not do well with the 170 gr. issue rounds. :)
