still on the hunt for bigger lathe

well I am still on the hunt for a large lathe, somthing like 120" between centers and  and swing 15" over cross slide.


     I know there are deals out there, so if anyone finds one please let me know.  thanks rick

I remember when my boss bought a lathe with an 8' bed.  Paid $50 for it, cleaned it up and used it.  (1963ish).

They are out there - sitting around not being used.  Find the machine shops in small towns and from them find out who's gone out of business.

That sounds like the Lathe I have been wanting to get, some day.  I have seen some here and their.  The guys still selling machines that came out of Government surplus has had a few.

Machines like that are out there and usually you can get them for hauling them away.  Although 15" clear across the slide is going to be a hefty machine, 36x120 or so.  Very heavy and a pain to move and slow max RPM.

the larger they are , the cheaper they are
smaller ones always wanted for hobby use ,
but large machines most people doesnt have space enough for so thats why you can find them very cheap or even for free .
