Well today I finally got out and did a little scouting. I had to go out and get my treestands out of the woods and checked some different areas for canine activity. It turned out to be a bad deal all the way around. First off, some jerk off stole my best stand :evil: :evil: . Then, there was very little sign, besides deer anywhere. There were what appeared to be either rat or mink tracks on the snow and ice along the stream. Very little coon sign, and a few sets of fox tracks. There were some very large canine tracks along the road and in the woods. I would guess to say they were not coyote, unless the coyotes in the midwest are much bigger than out west. With the melting snow, most tracks were very hard to read. Now I am starting to see why I had a hard time catching anything. I started siding a house and now the holidays, I am not going to get anything in the ground until the first of the year
. What is really bad is the weather is warming up for a week or so and critters will probably be moving all over. I guess I need to look for some where else to trap. I cannot figure out where all the coon went. I seen so many bowhunting, and now nada, nothing, zilch. I am going to have to get some 1.5 for next year. I looked at some at Gander Mountain, wow, they sure are a lot bigger than my #1 cs. I can see where these could have a higher catch rate than my tiny ones.Well that is all for now.
