700 bolt head ?

should a near new production 700 have a perfectly round recess for the cartridge head? i checked out an sps varmint that had abit of an elongated recess. it was near the extractor. thank you

  i just checked mine out and it is elongated on the ejector side of the bolt otherwise it is round.  Does the bolt cycle and eject properly?  if so i would not worry.

cycles great. it's like new sps varmint 26" barrel in 22-250. thinking about doing some trading for it. did some of them come in a package deal with a 3x9? thanks

I think they did.  I believe the scopes are bottom end Bushnells.  I had one of them and it wasn't a bad scope.  I put it on something I was trading off to help sweeten the deal.

right this one has no markings other than 3x9 on the bell. i like the feel of the stock  especially. 1 in 14 twist if i read right. would it stabilize 60g bullets?

would it stabilize 60g bullets?   No, a 1/14" twist won't stablize any bullet heavier than 55 grains.   I have custom 22/250Rem that I bought that has a 1/14" twist and sometimes wish it was Savage because they have 1/12" twist in their 22/250s.

Depends on the bullet and the barrel...... Some will and some won't.

so i did pick up this rifle. noticed that the scope bases are 1 or 2 degrees off center. no problem since the scope will mount ok anyway. question is which scope? and what about 50g or 55g hornady v-max in the 1/14?

 Nikons are nice too.  I have used prostaff and buckmasters.  They are my go to scopes for hunting.  I have a leupold mark 4 4-14x40 on my 700 and it suits me just fine.  All dpends on how far you plan to shoot and how much you want to spend.
  Midway has great deals each month or just check the classifieds here.  Or like swampman said try natchez they have great deals too.
