Next time I find some obsidian I will try this. It maybe laughable but I think it will be a hoot.

Shu, be extreamly carefull. The chips can be so sharp that they will cut through leather gloves,skin, muscle and tendon to the bone almost painlessly. Wear eye protection also if you are knockng off a flake.   jm2cw   ear

Eye protection, absolutely! thanks ear.  Also read that the jade stone ulus used by the northern peoples would not have blood freeze to the blades. I wonder if this is true with all stone blades? I would think it must be.
