MGM Inventory
« on: February 25, 2011, 11:10:17 AM »
I went on MGMs web site today. Their barrel inventory seems low. They usually have a good selection. Maybe just that time of year.

that list has been that way for months. It doesn't seem like they're making any barrels to put in stock. They don't seem to be going to any gunshows anymore, either, at least whenever I look they have none listed.

I ask one of the sales reps at our large gun show in Tulsa and he said there were just to many different barrels and customers wanting different configurations as well as cal. to stock pile them as you wind up with too much dead stock. That is the reason they are called custom barrel makers they make what we ask for. :)

How much more would you be willing to pay for that convenience?  50%, 100%?  If you look at the cost of money, the cost of materials, the cost of labor, the cost of storage space the barrel cost goes up fast.  For a custom manufacturer it could drive the price of all their product up.

They will be back in Tulsa April 2-3 for the big show then.  They normally have some inventory with them but I don't mind putting a barrel on order during the show.
