Thanks for the info and advice from all.

How many of you guys are in "Castle Doctrine" states and how does it affect your ammo decisions, if at all?

Just my .2 cents, I don't use a gun for home defence. A nice bright LED flashlight, a old baseball bat and my dogs protect my wife and I. Even if you shoot someone in self defence there is a good chance you will get into some kind of trouble with the law. You get in a lot less by getting in a few licks witha club. Again just my .2 cents.

Really depends on where you live.
Our law states that if someone is in your house univited it is presumed they are there to do bodily harm to you and you are within your rights terminating them. This is in Oklahoma. So check your local laws.

I'm in Texas, yeah I know some of the most lax gun laws, but still almost every time if your not brought up on some charge, the intruders family will 99% of the time sue in civil court or the like. So I guess either way your out of pocket for a lawyer. No winning for us law abiding citizens!

I didn't frame my question very well.

And I'm not taking sides or trying to start a beef.

I'm wondering if the guys that prefer birdshot to defend their home from within their home -----and I get that-----would use birdshot to defend their property from outsideof their home.

buck shot

also  just pick one  and stick with it...learn from it and practice
forget that  mixing  stuff
tooooooo much to think about   if things go bad

BTW
i  tried the drill in the video
''cock the hammer before  its loaded''......BS
i always cock the hammer ''as i raise the gun''  done it that way for 40 years
as  i raise the gun with the hammer back....my thumb goes looking...causeing confusion
as i lower the the gun....i lower the hammer....now what  if i trained to raise a cocked gun
or  if i left it cock  after decideing to not shoot now...leaving it cocked is very unsafe
lowering the hammer is contrary to my training
raising and cocking in one motion is contrary to my train  [according to the video]
the man in the video is just doing someting different
to  LOOK  like he knows something you don't
that video  has caused me to  really dought what this guy has to say from now  on
those were my thoughts when a first saw that video months ago
when drugs are outlawed only out laws will have drugs
DO WHAT EVER IT TAKES TO STOP A DEMOCRAT
OBAMACARE....the biggest tax hike in the  history of mankind
