Gentlemen,
It is with a heavy heart that I must report to you tonight that circumstances have become such that Ga.windbreak has made the decision to end his tenure as co-moderator of this forum. I spoke with him at length earlier this afternoon and he did not make this decision lightly. He has made his resignation official with Graybeard, and his position reflects the change. He has assured me that he will be dropping by as time allows to see how things are going.
I must admit I was taken by surprise when he told me of his decision. We have become close friends over the past few years, and I can tell you he will be missed. He has filled in for me on many occasions when I was unable to be online myself. We talk on the phone on a regular basis so I will still be in contact with him.
As moderator, I don't have a lot of rules.
> First and foremost, I want you guys to have fun in your discussions but at the same time, please be civil in your posts. I like a good argument as much as the next guy, but don't let it get out of hand.
> I won't put up with name-calling. You're all grown men so act like it. If this is too much for you to handle, I'm sure there is a romper room online somewhere that will welcome you. Go play there.
> Try to stay on topic in the thread you are posting to. I realize that sometimes a thread takes a turn but don't take somebody else's thread too far off topic. (Don't hijack the thread.) It's not fair to the person who started the thread. You wouldn't want it done to you so don't do it to anybody else.
> If you are asked to provide a source for a post you make on this forum, have the decency to provide it. It is not an insult to your intelligence or experience if someone asks you for a source. If you refuse to provide your sources, I will delete your posts. "Because I said so" does not make it a source. You had to learn what you believe from Somewhere. All that is being asked of you is to show where your information comes from. Nobody knows it all. We all have room to learn something here.
> Profanity will NOT be tolerated. I have not seen any problems with this within this forum, but you must realize that at times children are reading this forum. Not to mention it is not becoming of civilized people.
> The Golden Rule pretty much applies here guys. Treat people with respect and you will get it in return.
Thank you, Ga.windbreak, for your service and the long hours you have devoted to this forum. You are the quintessential Southern Gentleman and a true man of honor. Your expertise and professionalism are but a couple of traits that will be greatly missed here. I would certainly welcome your return should your circumstances allow it. I wish you well and I will talk to you soon.
Respectfully,
SouthernByGrace
