i have a bobcat that is working the area around where i'm beaver trapping, he or she is following rabbits in the thick under brush.  it seems like they are using the same trail over and over again in the past two nights.  since i didn't see the tracks three days ago, i got real excited and decided to put out a set for him.  since i mainly have 330's for beaver, i only had 1 220, so i set out a bucket with the 220 covering the opening.  i'm wondering since i only have one set out, if this is gonna pay off, i don't think any type of ground set would work due to the fact that there is about 2 ft. of snow on the edge of the field where he frequents.

so if anyone could give some insite on what i'm doing here, like baits to use, scents or other possible sets it would be greatly appreiated.

oh, and i only have till jan. 4 to catch him.

If you can snare, Fishdaddy gave you the best adviceI cat think of.   And, cats go down fast.

we can't snare for cats in mn, but how i look at it, that would be pretty easy, they use the same trail almost every time the move through.

I don't know where Asa is cause he is the snow set king as far as I can tell.

It seems to me that he would sneak in from the side of the trail making as little disturbance as possible and place a trap UNDER a track in the trail UNDER the snow.  Also, I'll bet a chared wood post set off to the side would get Mr. Kitties attention.  To bed in the snow Asa tells of throwing snow up high in the air letting it settle onto the trap.

Everytime I read his description I want to try it and I get this vision of an old medicine man throwing magic dust to the fathers in heaven above...wonder if Asa has some magic chant that goes along with is lures?
