There are several variations of K-Hornet, this finish reamer is a Clymer 35º shoulder, CLY1110.

This got me thinking so I did some research.  The RCBS and Hornady dies both have the 40 degree shoulder.  I lucked out in that both of my K-Hornet rifles, bought many years apart also are chambered for the 40 degree shoulder.

There seems to be some confusion over the shoulder angle and the designer of the round.  Some say the 40 degree shoulder version is really the .22 Ackley Hornet.  I don't know for sure but I'm glad I know now so that if I decide to get another, I'll know what reamer to ask for...

BTW, I remember years ago asking a gunsmith about the fired cases from my rifle not matching some K-Hornet cases I bought at a gun show.  For what it's worth, he told me that the version my gun has is the most popular of the several versions that are out there.  I didn't press for any more info...

Tim,

Thanks for posting the Lee information.  I just sent my hornet dies in to be modified.  I'll post once they're back to me.  Thanks again for making the 22k reamer available!

Jeepman,

Thanks for making the 22 k hornet reamer available!  I just got my 22 K hornet Lee dies yesterday in the mail.  That's a pretty quick turn around:  I sent them in July 29th and they were back to me on August 13th.  They sent the dies back in one of their plastic cases and included a shell holder.  Since I sent my hornet dies in, the cost to modify them to 22 k hornet was $10 plus $5 for shipping.  What a deal!  They also included a note saying who modified and tested the dies and ask for feedback.  To me, that's pretty good customer service.  If I get a chance I'll load some k hornet this afternoon and report back.  Thanks.

Eric

416 Stainless barrel steel (which I assume H&R uses) is a sulfur add stainless steel. I have machined several barrels made from it. It machines very well. I always hand ream the last .010-.015 to set head space I have never had issues with chatter. I use plenty of sulfur and lard based black cutting oil to machine and hand ream my barrels. The trick is never get stainless hot while machining. If it work hardens you are done. Since this is all hand work I wouldn't worry about just go slow and use lots of lube.
