.22lr Breech Face?

I recently bought a Contender frame and just bought a used 10" bull barrel (T/C).  I just got it today and the breech face has what looks like a cutout for the firing pin or some major dry firing  has caused an indent.  Do factory barrels have this recess or do I have a problem?

So if this is the normal chamber machining, I suppose it's there to keep the chamber from being peened by dry firing.  Now we'll just have to see how well she shoots.

Yes there should be a little recess cut out in the face of the barrel to keep the firing pin from damaging the barrel or breaking - just in case you accidently dry fire.

Thanks.  I've never seen that on a chamber before and just wanted to make sure it wasn't caused by what it's meant to prevent. 

Also, thanks to all for not jumping all over me for using the term "Breech Face" I thought about it last night and realized I had my terminology mixed up.
