35-30 or 357 herret on sb1

 I want to put 35-30 or 357 herret on sb1 frame.can it be done safe. Thanks for any help Jim

I would feel ok with the 35/30 if you didn't try to make a magnum out if it.

But I would say NO to the Herrett. It's too much for a SB1 IMHO.

Both being wild cats there is no real standardized pressure ratings. BUT, lite loadings of either would be fine. My worries would be from some unknowing person getting ahold of it should you not be around. Better to lean to a safer side. Just go put them on a SB2.

IMHO I'd sell the SB1, spend a few extra bucks and buy a SB2.  I don't understand the fascination with putting the largest barrel on the lightest frame.  The SB1 will probably stretch or fail in the long run.  ALL my centerfires are on SB2 frames.  I keep three extra SB2 frames, so if I buy a barrel, it is likely to fit one well.  Just a cautious old SOB.
