The stupid thing is the dead don't see the protest why not protest at the front gate of a military base ? That's right the gaurd may come arrest them . Dead men can't do that.
Show respect for onr fallen heros ! Maybe people should surround them and sing military songs loud enough to drown them out !  ;)
If ya can see it ya can hit it !

That westboro cult is as godless as the muslims. If they want to protest the queers they should go to the dem natl committee or or the dem congressmen, they are the ones supporting the gays. NOBODY should have the right to protest ANYTHING at any funeral, let alone that of a fallen American Warrior. POWDERMAN.  >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:(

I could not see the court ruling any other way and if it would have scared me. With that said I have absolutly no sympathy for these cockroaches of humanity and if were seated on a jury where someone had hurt or killed these maggots, I would exercise my right to vote not guilty no matter what the evidence. I hope to hear these lice have been killed. It would make my day.

Well, after giving it more thought, I can still say that I agree with the freedom of speech decision/

I disagree with the ambitions of westboro church.

All that in consideration do the protesting pukes who disgrace a militery members services have the right to do so on private property? Isn't that what a cemetary is, private property?

That is a dangerous statement, especially from someone that claims to be a staunch constitutionalist. Powderman, I would love to see these deranged people swept up and put away, but we can't under the constitution as it is now. Either later here on earth and for sure in the afterlife their due will be coming. When anyone of them die they had better keep any service secret or they may get a very strong dose of their own medicine.

There is something wrong with that Westboro 'Baptist' crowd. Their single BIG issue seems to be hatred of homosexuals - all their nasty behavior comes from that.

Maybe hatred of homosexuals is bad thing? I wonder if the Westboro-Baptist gang feels like their behavior is justified because (they think) God is on their side?

Maybe they'll be hating Muslims next.
Jesus said we should treat other as we'd want to be treated... and he didn't qualify that by their party affiliation, race, or even if they're of diff religion.

+1, although the fact that it's a law often keeps those with no internal moral compass from drifting behavior, and that's alot of people. You can legislate behavior, you can't legislate the heart. This case is the gruesome risk of liberty, but I'd have it no other way. Patriot riders have been at several of the funerals for my Marines, exercising the same liberty as the westboro folks.

The court made the right decision.

Those poor families have suffered enough without the Westboro idiots around.    Wish something could be done without jeopardizing free speech.

In Ky those scum are by law limited to no closer than 300 ft of a funeral, in Indiana it's 500 ft. At least it's something. POWDERMAN.  :( :(

The Westboro Baptists are no less radical about their beliefs than at least one poster here.

Really don't want a martyr for that movement. I say let em scream, it only further clarifies the absurdity of their message.

mirage 1988 has a very good point. It seems to me that the bikers showed up early on the corner that the protestors had planned to use and the protestors left quietly when they saw that the corner was already occupied by the biker folks. Maybe we all need more involvement in some of these issues to get our point of view accross. People need to be respectfull of funeral processions.
Some folks here (close by FT. Drum) put up banners on the chain link fences, welcoming home our veterans as they arrive at the base airport. I don't think radicals would be tolerated here.

The bad news is that Marge Phelps has made it clear that they will challenge the above now in every state that has such laws. The really scary thing is that these people seem to be fairly darn good lawyers and will continue pushing.

I am really amazed that none of them have been attacked or attempts made on any of their lives and it is best it does not happen because they would use it to their benefit. However, that being said I come from a religion of peace and have always been taught to turn the other cheek, but if they showed up at a funeral for my wife or child I really do not know if I could control myself. In the emotional setting of a funeral I am amazed that no one has just not "lost" it and lit into them. At least they would get plenty of donations for their defense.
