It always amazes me how this gets turned around.
Nevermind he was probably dealing drugs while those kids were in the car.
Nevermind he failed to respond to a lawful order.
Nevermind he could have killed the cop doing this.

They want crime off the streets, but when they do it, it becomes a tragedy.

You'll have to ask those people. But I'll hazard a guess that some, rather than reflexively taking the position that perp was a scumbag, he deserved to be shot to death! or Cop was a jackboot, he deserved to get dragged! - some would say this was a grim outcome, and another hard casualty in the War on (some) Drugs.

Yelow I'd say something butobviously you are not worth the time off. No wonder GB banned you before. Maybe you should go to Jaurez and see what your hunger for drugs has caused. I used to goto Jtown every weekend for I and I, we were less likley to be a vicitm there than in El Paso, now it is a war zone.

peoples' "thirst for drugs" collided with The Noble Experiment in the 20s, and people wised up in less than fifteen years and repealed prohibition. That worked better than calling consumers and suppliers scum and celebrating their deaths. The War on (some) Drugs has done far, far more damage. You got something to say? Say it. But don't say something you would not be willing to say face to face. That's a prob with the internet; it encourages bad behavior and the sort of nastiness people would never put up with face to face.

Anyhow... I'll drive by Juarez in a few weeks. Shall I wave at you?

Gee, the cop had to shoot the guy to save his own life. I suppose you'd have done differant and let him kill you? Fact, the BG knew his kids were in the car when he decided to drag the officer. Fact, he knew they were still there all the while the officer was being dragged and demanding he stop. So, it's the officer's fault the kids were in the car? It was his fault he had to shoot the father to save his own life? Yes it's sad the kids had to see it. Sadder still that they'll always remember it, but put the blame where it belongs on their father! He forced it to happen through his own actions. Not only did he not care about the life of the officer but he put his kids in danger to save himself from what was most likely just a night or two in jail.

Probably not; I probably would have shot the guy, too. But then I'm not a drug warrior, and I don't ever stick my arm into someone's car to force them to open the door (that'll get thrown in jail & charged with assault)

yellowtail is always against the grain. I met a lot of drug dealers and their families. The families suffer because of the dealer in the family. He has little or no ambition to work, and usually bullies the rest of the family, going on occasional drug induced tares where he terrorizes his own family threatening them, and beating them. He's a natural born loser, and that is why he is a drug dealer in the first place.
The officer didn't put those children into this incident. Their father did. That alone should tell you something about the dealer. Why would any man take his children around drug addicts. After 20 years of L.E. I am somewhat sociopathic toward folks like drug dealers, and folks like yellowtail. I just don't give a damn what they think about anything. If it weren't for that thin blue line called the police officer, someone long ago would have beat hell out of yellowtail, or killed him, and took all his stuff.
Drug dealers contribute nothing but misery to this world, and make their living selling this misery. Folks like yellowtail have lived a protected life, all their life, and are spoiled to it, not having a clue as to whom gives them the freedom to live out their selfish little lives. If it weren't for the police he would be looking out his shades, and could not even got to work for fear of someone robbing his house and harming his family while he was gone. He is too self righteous, and selfish to realize this, and doesn't appreciate what the police officer provides for he and his family. He has never thought that it would be unsafe for his wife and children to do the simple things such as go to the store if it weren't for the police officer he so resents.

No disrespect intended - though I think you intend some? - but that's plain silly. Many believe - and police would have them believe! - that the police keep them safe. The police, however, are not personal bodyguards. They do act as a general deterrent to crime, both by their presence and by apprehending criminals after the crime... but they don't protect. I'll fine without you, Dee. I've been assaulted once, police were of no help. None of the property stolen from me was ever recovered by police. And you well know that courts have held that police have no legal obligation to protect anyone in particular. When was the last time someone successfully sued the cops for failing to keep them from being victims of crime?

I personally am very much against the whole "war on drugs" nonsense - to me I see no reason why the government should have any business dictating what consenting adults put into their own bodies.

THAT SAID, the guy drove off with an officer's arm caught in the window and refused to stop. This shooting was completely justified, plain and simple. I don't care if it was a 90 year old granny pulled over on suspicion of jay-walking - if you put an officer's life in danger you're going to be put down, and I have no sympathy there.

I agree. There are plenty of stories about cops acting like out of control Rambo-wanna-be thugs (or, as the NRA called them, "Jack booted thugs"). This just isn't one of them. Guy made a bad and dangerous decision that got him killed. He got what he deserved.

When Wayne LaPierre made the statement about "jack booted thugs" he was talking about ATF agents, whom many, like the FBI hold law degrees. Not city and county cops. Your statement on this was taken totally out of context to demonize the regular street cop.
There are also plenty of stories of law twisters in court rooms, distorting the facts to win cases, or get criminals off.
As far as the dope dealer getting what he deserved, we actually agree on that issue.
