Texas farmers under attack.

In Texas, nearly 8,200 farms and ranches back up to the Mexican border.
The men and women who live and work on those properties say they’re under attack from the same drug cartels blamed for thousands of murders in Mexico.
“It’s a war, make no mistake about it,” Texas Agriculture Commissioner Todd Staples said. “And it’s happening on American soil.”
Texas farmers and ranchers produce more cotton and more cattle than any other state, so Staples is concerned this war could eventually impact our food supply, and calls it a threat to our national security.
“Farmers and ranchers are being run off their own property by armed terrorists showing up and telling them they have to leave their land,” Staples said.

To raise awareness, Commissioner Staples launched the website ProtectYourTexasBorder.com. It’s a place where frustrated and scared farmers can share their stories.
One Texas farmer, who asked not to be identified, said it’s common for him to see undocumented immigrants walking through his property.
“I see something, I just drive away,” he said. “It is a problem, I’ve learned to live with it and pretty much, I’ve become numb to it.”
Another farmer, Joe Aguilar, said enough is enough. After walking up on armed gunmen sneaking undocumented immigrants into the United States through his land, Aguilar decided to sell his farm.“It’s really sad to say, you either have to beat ‘em or join ‘em and I decided not to do either,” Aguilar said.
Aguilar's family farmed 6,000 acres of land along the Texas-Mexico border for nearly 100 years.
“Our farmers and ranchers can’t afford their own security detail,” Staples said. “We’re going to become more dependent on food from foreign sources.
Americans don’t like being dependent on foreign oil, they won’t stand for being dependent on foreign food.”

And our government does NOTHING to stop it. Texans are a pretty tough bunch, I think it is time they secure their own border.

We have a few rigs down close to Laredo.
A few weeks back a couple of pipe line welders got cut up and their truck stolen in the same area as our rigs.
Last week we were down there doing some engine work all of us in the truck were packin and we had 2 loaded Mini 30s in the front seat.
One night we got pulled over by the BP we figured they would try something stupid because of the weapons. They were checking out my drivers license  and were kind of squirrelly acting and one of the finally said You know we could take yours guns none of you even have Carry Permit.
I looked him in the eye and said "The hell you will' Then as if by cue you could hear the safeties snicking off on guns in the back and passenger seats.
Both of the BPs backed away from the truck slowly and one of them said you boys be careful and watch your a..es then they drove off.
When we got to the rig we told the pusher what had happened he said "dang boys the Border Patrol is on our side"
I said " They sure don't act like it and I don't trust any federal law enforcement, at least with the Mexicans you know what kind of snake your dealing with".
He asked you weren't really going to shoot them were you? We all agreed that if they tried to disarm us they were as good as dead.
It's no wonder the Mexicans are running over us when BP has nothing better to do than try acting tough with the guys who pay their salaries.

TM, you would argue with a sign post. ;D

There are people being killed on their own land.  Perhaps DMZ is the wrong tactic, but SOMETHING needs to be done.  I know a couple folks there, and they are afraid to go across their own land.  Government's first responsibility is the safety of it's citizens, and ours is issueing bean bag ammo to the BP......

The reason there is so much trouble on our southern borders, is due to the fact our borders weren't militarized by october of oh one. Oh and wusses for leaders that keep getting voted in.

Why don't those Texans exercise their castle doctrine rights?

What permit is needed to carry long guns openly (or even a handgun) in a private vehicle? Sounds like Texas gun laws are much tougher than Californias.

I used to be in law enforcement in California, I never let anyone with a gun remain in arms reach of it while talking with them. I had stopped a pick up with a  cabover camper one night. I heard the racking of a shotgun slide while I talked to the driver. I put my pistol in the drivers ear and sorted things out real quick.  The passenger in the back was playing around and thought he would be funny. The shot gun was empty, everybody involved needed a change of underwear. The driver got a speeding ticket, and both got to sit handcuffed on the pavement until I calmed down a bit. The driver was complaining of his ear hurting, I gave him my badge number and supervisors telephone number. He never called to complain.

Until the military gets involved there will be no end. What "I" would do to protect my homeland  is not politically correct so I will refrain from comment. But rest assured Texans are ready, by default.

Shu Texas has laws against carrying loaded firearms , but I have yet to ever have a Texas lawman to give me any flack over doing so.
In fact the Dimit and Webb county Sheriff offices told us to keep the guns loaded and close at hand. Things in that part of Texas are pretty straight forward unless your dealing with them federal freaks at the border patrol.
We work a lot in the late hours in some very remote places down there. Anyone who tries to disarm me or separate me from my weapons in that area had better be dang sure that's what they really to do.

Did texas revoke their castle doctrine?  If illegals are coming across our borders, its because the government wants 'em to.

Hooker,
Working them late hours in an oil field, I would carry a loaded gun also. In fact I would probably have 2. I don't blame you a bit and I hope you don't have to use it.

Why?  If you figure this out you will find some very ugly truths.
