what cats you shooting
« on: December 22, 2003, 03:03:57 PM »
i got a remington 700 chambered in 6.5x55 arch and its going to be a mean deer killer.  shoots 129 hornadys in to .5 inches .

i also just got back my mule.  it was a boring old 30-06 that no one wanted so it came home with me.  i turned it in to a fine 257 bob imp.  i just need a stock and im set for killing the small things.
Let the heavens decide.

I've got a 25-06 Ackley Improved and I'm just itching to get back out west so I can put it to use on mule deer, proghorn alntelopes or bighorn sheep, if I ever get drawn... :?

Right now only:

17 Ackley Hornet
17M4
6X47
257JDJ
6.5JDJ
6.5 Super Bower
309JDJ
375JDJ
401 Power Mag

Pretty skimpy list considering what its been in the past.   Doing too many "non cats" it seems these days.

6mm TCU
6mm -30
257 Roberts - ok, it legitimized
40 rimmed mag
45 Colt mag

those pretty much fill in the spaces where my legitimate calibers don't. I thought the 6mmTCU was going to do a job and found I needed the 6mm-30 to do it. I have a round that can be used for any purpose that my 3006 can fill. My rifles stop at 35 caliber and my pistols, aside from the 22's, start at 35 caliber.... Is there a message there?

Roper, noticed that you load for a 6mm A I. I'm just getting started in that one. Fire forming loads right now with 100gr. and 4350. I would like to end with the 87gr Hornady, have a 1-9 twist. Any suggestions on what powder/primer combo to start with for serious group work. Thanks-Gypsyman
