Torque values for rings and bases
« on: March 04, 2011, 06:55:45 AM »
My brother gave me a torque driver for scope rings and bases. I have no idea where to look for the proper settings, maybe there's no such thing. Any ideas? Thanks, Tom.

What torque should I adjust my fasteners to?
Always refer to manufacturesr specs but we recommend:
Base Screws                   30 inch-lbs
Ring Screws (aluminum)    10 -15 inch-lbs
Ring Screws (Steel)         15-20 inch-lbs
Windage Screws              30-40 inch-lbs
Guard Screws
     (with bedding pillars)   65 inch-lbs
     (no bedding pillars)     40 inch-lbs
*note: middle guard screw should not be torqued

From a Leupold package:

6-48 Base Screws -22in/lbs
8-40 Base Screws -28in/lbs

8-40 Ring Screws -28in/lbs

STD Windage Screws -45in/lbs

Ringmount Keeper Screws -45in/lbs

PRW Keeper Screws -22in/lbs
