Crown and rifling on Huntsman barrel.
« on: March 04, 2011, 09:04:49 AM »
Got my new Huntsman barrel the other day. Have some questions on what my expectations should be. The rifling has minor chatter marks on the lands that run across the lands. I've seen worse however it's not nice and smooth. The grooves have machining marks that run length-wise down the barrel. It's rough. The crown is somewhat odd looking. Usually there is either a false muzzle or a standard crown. This has a long tapered cone like crown. Never seen one like this before. It's very smooth. The barrel might shoot well, I have not shot it yet. Just wondering what others Sidekick and Huntsman barrels looked like new. Thanks.

Kind of the rule of thumb for nearly all H&R products both internally and externally is if you want smooth you'll have to do it yourself ;) Kurt

Don't expect a hand lapped finish on the inside, but they generally shoot quite well. The long taper crown helps you introduce the sabots down the barrel. Pretty good design.
