I bought the same rifle in February.  $229 with another 10% off clearance rifles!  I was elated.  Mine went together tight and closes solidly.

You should be OK once Remington takes care of you.  I'd like to find on in a .223 with 1:9 twist.

Good Luck!

How's yours shooting for you?  Eventually I'm going to dump the scope and put a burris fullfield with ballistic plex on it, and maybe the survivor stock, but it's got to show me some good shooting potential before I go dumping more $$ into it.

Last year I bought a new Pardner 20g from Dick's and I got it home and started showing my son the basics about safety and handling and suddenly noticed the ejector would no longer work.   Called CS at Ilion and they sent out a mailing label for service at Paducah, KY shop.    Sent it out the next day and it was returned three weeks later working fine.   Very pleasant people on the phone as well.

Customer support is in Madison NC, not Ilion, there's no public number to contact Ilion that I'm aware of.  :-\

Wow - thanks Tim - I didn't know that  - I just called the number and assumed (wrongly) that it connected with Ilion.    Anyway my experience was excellent with the Pardner.    Hope others get the same quick and friendly treatment.

Tim

Went through the H&R website. It directed me to the Peducah Service Center. I called the number they listed (I think I called Paducah). They emailed me the UPS label. Rifle went straight to Paducah. CS on phone was good. Repairs were relatively quick, about 3-4 weeks. No emails though so I was left wondering. Rifle just showed up. I am sure they would have responded had I called but it did not take long enough for a call. I'd give them an A minus.

Thanks, I suspect if CS thinks the repair involves a barrel replacement, they have it sent to Ilion, other gunsmith type repairs are done at the service centers, but why CS doesn't email all the repair labels is puzzling, sending them by mail just adds to the repair time, costs more too! ???

Mine shot 1 1/2" at 100 yards pretty much out of the box. I changed the scope first thing. I've been shooting rem core lokt 150gr. Took adeer at 160 yards with it.

Update:
I got the shipping label in the mail and about a week after calling the customer service department.  I wasn't able to get the rifle shipped until after work on 4-18.  I've never shipped a rifle myself so I was surprised at how easy it was.  I'll update when I get the rifle back in my hands.

If it was $223.00 I'd buy it. I have four, you never have enough 223's ;D
Buy it before they're all gone. I think you can sell the barrel and have a nice new frame and stocks to put another barrel on. If there were any more here I'd have em. Just make sure the store will let you take the forearm off to see if it locks up tight. I tried to buy the one Teddy bought the weekend before but they wouldn't let me check for wiggle. He said they were not gunsmiths and couldn't even touch it with a screwdriver. Odd as I believe they mount and bore site scopes. The young  fellow REALLY seemed ready to fight over it but there was a State Troopers car in the lot and I didn't feel it was worth going to jail over. So the little A$$ Whole saved me some grief in the long run. Sorry Teddy

I never ran into the the younger guy you're refering to.  I delt with a much old crabby gentleman.  You definately dodged a lemon by not purchasing that rifle, but I didn't have to take it apart to find the wiggle.  It was very subtle while I was at the store and I really didn't look it over too hard anyway.  When I got home and really started to play/fool around with it, that's when I noticed the wiggle.  When I look at used guns I'm much more particular about things, but when I buy them new I make certain assumtions like.... it's safe to be fired?  Lesson learned and in the future I'll look over anything I purchase with a fine toothed comb.

It's a lemon now, but it's on it's way to the Dr.  Once it gets back I'm sure it'll be a fine rifle fit for a king.  In the big picture, I knew I was buying a $230 rifle so I wasn't expecting too much to begin with.  If all I have to do is put it back in the box and put a sticker on it, then pick it back up in a couple weeks, that's not too much to ask out of me.  It's still going to be a scoped 308.

I've been debating on keeping the factory scope or putting a burris fullfield with a ballistic plex on it.  For now I'm going to at least give that little factory beater scope a try and we'll see how it goes.  I'll just zero it for 200 yards and leave it set in the gun cabinet.

Teddy, be sure not to let that scope hit you in the eye. They had two at the North store I was gonna buy and by the time I got there one was sold. I bought that one and knew they still had one at the S. store so I drove out there to get that one and encountered the polite young fellow with great people skills >:( I planned to sell both barrels as I wanted a couple frames and stocks. Sounds like I would have sold the barrel on the one you got. He told me I could take it a part in the car after I bought it. I asked what if it's loose, his response was it would be my problem :o My wife and I are wondering if they knew about it as this was a VERY ODD EXPERIENCE ???  Now I bought a few 308 brass and I'm gonna shoot it I guess. The scope seems very close to my eye and I've never shot a 308. Once saw a guy shoot a 30-06 and then watched him bleed and run for some butterflies for the cut. Just trying to help you not have that much fun ;)
Good Luck and keep us posted.

I'll be sure not to take one in the eye for the team.  I know a lot of people have that issue with single shots especially with the cheapo factory scopes, but I'll definately make sure that doesn't happen to me.  I've had enough close calls with getting my eye brows tickled that I'm very conscious of what could happen.

I just wish Dicks would get in an order of these in 44mag so we hoosiers would have something we could hunt with.

**Update**
Well as of today it's been one month since I shipped the rifle.  I have not been called, emailed or anything.  All I can do is assume all the repairs are coming along nicely.  I'm just guessing that I'll be notified by UPS when the rifle comes in.  So far, one month down and I haven't heard a word.  Is that typical?

Have you called CS to check on it?  They should have sent you a repair number, then you can check on the status yourself, call em and get the number, they should tell you what the status is, they'll need the serial number. ;)

I haven't called CS because I figured that I'd give them a month before bothering them.  I'm kind of surprised they didn't call me.  I didn't think mine would take long to fix.

I don't think they call unless there's a problem, I thought they sent a card or an email if you provided it.

I included my email address.  I can't imagine there would be any problems fixing an unfired rifle, but I could be wrong.  Usually it's about the time I get impatient that a package show up.

A loose barrel normally requires a new barrel to be fitted, they may be out of stock and waiting for another run of 308 barrels, unfortunately it happens sometimes.  :'( If you call, you'll likely find out what the hold up is, you can also get the repair number which is the info they normally send on the receipt confirmation.

**Update**
They just delivered the gun to the house.  The action is very tight and the way it should be.  As far as I can tell everything is the way it should be.  Now it just needs to take a trip to the range and we'll see how it handles.

Well, I got out to the range today.  I replaced the factory scope with a burris fullified II 2-7x ballistic plex.  This little rifle kicks like a mule for no bigger than it is.  I have to admit that I didn't shoot much, only 15 rounds, but they were very productive.  After zeroing for 100 yards using a 168gr load I worked up for another rifle I used the ballistic dash marks and made hits out to 500 yards on steel.  This gun was worth the hassle.  I'm very happy with it, but its almost too easy of a gun to shoot long range with.

Glad it all worked out for you.

Did you shoot the 500 yd steel up at Youngs Longshot by Adams Lake?

I looked back at the link you put in the IN forum and it expired :(

Do you know if they still have a website? Thanks

Yeah, I was up at Young's.  I think they have made some changes to their website.  If you need their number or contact information just let me know.  That place is like heaven on earth for people who like to shoot.
