I never ran into the the younger guy you're refering to. I delt with a much old crabby gentleman. You definately dodged a lemon by not purchasing that rifle, but I didn't have to take it apart to find the wiggle. It was very subtle while I was at the store and I really didn't look it over too hard anyway. When I got home and really started to play/fool around with it, that's when I noticed the wiggle. When I look at used guns I'm much more particular about things, but when I buy them new I make certain assumtions like.... it's safe to be fired? Lesson learned and in the future I'll look over anything I purchase with a fine toothed comb.
It's a lemon now, but it's on it's way to the Dr. Once it gets back I'm sure it'll be a fine rifle fit for a king. In the big picture, I knew I was buying a $230 rifle so I wasn't expecting too much to begin with. If all I have to do is put it back in the box and put a sticker on it, then pick it back up in a couple weeks, that's not too much to ask out of me. It's still going to be a scoped 308.
I've been debating on keeping the factory scope or putting a burris fullfield with a ballistic plex on it. For now I'm going to at least give that little factory beater scope a try and we'll see how it goes. I'll just zero it for 200 yards and leave it set in the gun cabinet.
