That's ASSUMING DD was NOT planning to do terrorist activities and NOT use #24 as a WMD.   :o

Oquawka, Illinois -  I've driven through there!  Stopped at a second-hand store too.  That was quite a few years ago, going from Ft McCoy, WI back to Des Moines, IA.

We are in  Harpers  Ferry until the 11th of April.   Anybody from around here?

The 11th we head to Allentown, PA and will be there for about a week.  Going to See Dom while there.  Anybody along the road from Harpers Ferry?

We will drive from Allentown to  Illinois about April 18th or so, going via Dayton on the freeway.  Anybody along that route.

Who is in Illinois?  Cannoneer-John aren't you in the Chicago area.  I don't know if we are going to get up there now, but we might.  Who else is in the area.

I'm in the southwest suburbs about an hour from the loop (downtown Chi). I was going to respond yesterday when I saw your posts about the museum and Oquawka, but didn't make it. I swear we're both born and bred here, but neither of us had ever heard of Oquawka, so I looked it up; the story about the poor elephant (Norma Jean) that was struck by lightning, and her burial site is what people used to refer to as quaint, very quaint. :)  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oquawka,_Illinois

I was also racking my brain trying to remember the last time I was at the Field Museum, and I figure it had to be at least eight years ago (I think it was $12.50 then). Yeah, a little steep, I looked that up too; now $15.00 adm. and $16.00 for parking (life in the big city). It is a great museum though; Sue the largest and I think the most complete T. Rex skeleton in existence cost them over 8 million $, maybe that's why they have to charge so dang much. ;) If you and/or your wife like art, the Art Instiute has an incredible collection.

What's drawing you to Normal, IL?

Have you given any thought to visiting the Rock Island Arsenal Museum? Another place we haven't been to for years, but that's time well spent (interesting place). http://riamwr.com/museum.htm

Let me know how your itinerary develops.

Oh she likes to shoot cannons...here she is firing her GB Mortar in the shadow of MT. Borah in 2005.

I remember some of the earlier pictures you posted of her; yes, it seems like they grow up much too quickly. That last pic; is that a badger, and where was it taken?

Yep badger, taken in  Montana...on that particular ranch, the Rancher requires all badgers be shot.  His favorite roping and cattle horse broke a leg in a badger hole and tossed him on the ground.  The horse had to be destroyed and he spent a month in the hospital...he hates badgers.

Unless they are causing probelms I normally leave badgers alone as they are about the only animal that predatates on gophers which are real vermin, the prairies equivalent of rats and mice.

I'm terribly sorry Douglas.  This is such sad news.  You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.  I will call later this morning.
