Any other 10ga reloader out there
« on: March 07, 2011, 01:09:45 AM »
I just got an Ithaca Mag 10 and started reloading for it. I first bought a Mec 600 Jr and then a Steelmaster press. I have loaded 2 oz lead loads, as well as steel. Hulls are hard to come by. Shotgunner

Other 10ga presses?
« Reply #2 on: March 07, 2011, 11:58:37 PM »
If I was still a waterfowl shooter I'd invest in a BPS10 ......

But to reload the 10gagg?

On eBay I got lucky and found an old Pacific - Hornady DL-155 in 10 gauge.  I usually have ALL DL-266 presses, but the DL-266 can also use DL-155 dies with some minor adapting.  The real key part are the two shellholders that bolt to the press floors.

I bought that 10ga DL-155, took the 10ga die-set off and promptly sold the DL-155 press.  That was several years ago! Maybe you could do something similar?

I would recommend what I did, find some 'old' 10ga Pacific DL-155 dies and either refurbish an old DL-155 press, or a DL-266 press.  MEC crimping starter parts can be adapted to work on the Pacific presses.

One other alternative would be to find an old Ponsness-Warren 375 press with 10ga dies - probably on eBay, and go that route.  I always thought Ponsness-Warren presses made the best equipment and reloads, but their parts and old stock is more and more scarce/rare all the time.

And NO GUARENTEE you'll find any 10ga items on eBay, or WHEN  but you can look [daily] and even do some [selected searches] that look for you and prompt eBay to email you when when something comes in.

You can also do 'selected searches' at GunBroker.com, and ShotgunWorld.com several years ago had several members who were fans of Pacific-Hornady presses.  Maybe a friendly inquiry over there might get a response?

Also watch eBay for Lee Loader's in 2 7/8 and 3 1/2in 10 gauge as well!

Ballistic Products carries up-to-date wads and components and 10 gauge data.

I pretty much gave up on eBay. I used to sell a lot of things there, had more then 200 feedbacks. As a seller you can not leave accurate feedback on a buyer, they force you to use PayPal and you pay to use it. They charge for a listing, pictures after the first one, reserves etc. I find that when I sell on GunBroker I get to keep a lot more of my money. eBay will end an auction if they think it is "dangerous", a friend had a "protective suit", pants and shirt made of plastic, and another had screw chokes. They do not refund you for an auction they end early. Shooters should support sites that support shooting, eBay does not. Shotgunner

I refuse to use paypal, contrary to eBay's "alleged"  policy.  I have 397 100-percent POSITIVE feedbacks at the moment, and pay for EVERYTHING with a MONEY ORDER, usually a USPS.  I always explain I "don't have a paypal account" and won't get one!  Never been gigged yet by a seller, altho a couple (less than 4 or 5) have cancelled the transaction "because."  I did have a paypal account but refuse to pay their monopolistic charges at both ends of any transactions!  They're GREEDY BASTIDS in my opinion and I refuse to subsidize their GREED, but I obey all other eBay rules and sellers are generally happy with me.

Most sellers are surpised (who are surprised) that not all eBay members are a bunch of sheeple without a compliant goes-along-with-everything-because -we have-to crowd.

I remember when we could buy brass and bullets and gun parts there, and even when that Korean bastid shot up VA Tech.

Funny thing about eBay and money, at present its inconvenient as HE!! to try (for me) to sell anything, but I am very up-front and honest with my sellers and so far they appreciate my business!

As for finding old or RARE reloading equipment, suit yourself Shotgunner.  Should've added last DL-266's I've seen listed were pricey, over 3-figures, but you gets what's yoos pays for!

You certainly have a lot to say. I think that in this case at least, you missed the point. I posted that I am loading 10ga and have two presses, one more then I need. Your reply was to go out and buy more presses. I am a Mec fan, I have 4 hydraulic 9000Hs, a 16ga 9000G, a 3" sizemaster in 12ga and a Steelmaster in 10ga, and a JR set up for 3" 410s. I think I have enough shotshell presses for now. Shotgunner

Shotgunner.

Had a mag 10 for about 25+ years it bacame a safe queen the last 10 so I sold it 3 years ago then my 600 mec on ebay last year I might have some federal hulls and Rem. and Pacific wads if your intrested i'll look.

I'm also a mec fan I have a PW 800 in 12ga along with 2-9000 one in 20ga the other in 410 I have had the PW for years and there a good press but not easy to run like a 9000.

Let me know on the 10ga stuff i'll trade if I have it.

I am very much interested in hulls. When I was in college my best friend was a mag10 shooter and he befriended an Ithaca employee, he went to Cornell. The guy gave him a appliance box of federal hulls, I wish I had them now. Let me know what you have and what you want for them. Shotgunner
