RUGER SINGLE 22 LR CYLINDER

I BOUGHT A RUGER SINGLE SIX 22MAG USED LATER THOUGHT I WOULD SENT IT TO RUGER TO HAVE 22LR CYLINDER FITTED SO I MAILED  THE PISTOL I DIDN'T SEND THE MAG CYL THEY LATTER CALLED ME AND TOLD ME I SHOULD HAVE SENT MAG CYL BUT I  FIGURED LESS WEIGHT TO MAIL I HAD TO SHIPP IT MORE MONEY.BETWEEN THE PRICE I PAID FOR THE GUN THE SHIPPING AND NEW CYLINDER INSTALLED I COULD OF BOUGHT A NEW GUN.I STILL CAN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY NEEDED THE MAG CYL.RUGER MAKES THOUSANDS OF THESE. I GOT REAL NICE GUN BUT I WON'T DO THE SAME AGAIN...

They needed the other cylinder in case they had to replace the hand in the process of truing the LR cylinder, in which case they may have to grind on the lugs of the mag cylinder to match both to same timing.  I was told the same thing when I purchased a 45 acp cylinder for my son's 45Lc(an auction find that was new).  I tested by having a bore size dowel run down each cylinder to check for alignment. mine was spot on so I used some cowboy action loads and ran it through and checked for leading, spitting or accuracy issues.  It actually shot tighter groups than the Lc cylinder.

  That additional cylinder shouldn't have added that much additional postage for starters.  If so, and if that small amount was such a make or break amount in having this work done, maybe it wasn't worth the original purchase to begin with knowing it didn't have the 22lr cylinder and that it would need to be sent in for one.  Another example of doing one's homework BEFORE the purchase rather than having unwanted results afterwards.    You knew the price you paid.  You knew what the shipping cost was before sending it.  You SHOULD'VE contacted Ruger and found out the parts/service costs before sending it.  Not dong one of these is a  :(.  Not doing 2 is a  :o.  Not doing all three...  ::).

i did my home work they didn't really need the mag cylinder the only reason i posted this is i have been reading that some people are putting 22mag or 22lr cylinders in there guns that were not fitted and timed at factory.or checked by a competent smith. the cost of the whole matter didn't bother me.just better to buy complete package.have a great week end.

I bought a spare cylinder for one of mine as it only came with the 22 LR from a gunsmith.  $35.00, he checked the fit with a rod, pronounced it good to go.  DP
