Sportser 22 mag.

How accurate are these? Never owned one before in a rimfire. Not looking for benchrest results just a inexpensive  rifle to have outside for vermin. Thanks gun junky

gun junky, I could have named myself that:) I have owned three sportster 22 mags so far. Am still working on the third one but it is holding 1/2 in groups at 50 yards consistently with the cheapest ammo I could find, Winchester Dynapoint. I love 'em. The other two and my two 17hmrs are also right on.

Ive had the UH 22 Mag (barrel capability may not be much different) for some years now, and also like that Win. Dynapoint for general use.
I shot it in some 'Ol Varmint' matches and won a few and placed regular.
The 40gr. 'real' mag. loads print about 1" higher at 50yd. so without changing scope settings Im good for farther out on 'whatever'. Yeah, its not a 'smallbore match' cartridge, but, in the real world mine has done about as well as my 22 Hornets did within 100yd.
Im going to wring out some of that +V (?) express stuff this spring and see what it does.

I think I'm going to try some of the hornady balistic tip. I would like to be able to use that on varmints around the house. I'm hoping they will be a little more explosive and not ricochet. Thanks gun junky

try the 17 hmr they blow up fun caliber cost about the same as 22 mag

Shot my 22 mag Ultra yesterday with CCI maxie mags... Set some orange clays at 60 yards and had fun shooting them and the pieces.. Will try it on paper next week... Fun gun.... Good luck...

On my last outing with my .22 mag sporster a few weeks ago I did very well with Armscor .22 mag jhp. I ordered a few boxes from Graf's and the nice price is why I did. Pretty clean shootin stuff too...like CCI. We had a new roof put on the house yesterday. At 8 am it was 27 degrees and was snowing lightly on the crew till noon. My furnace is still burnin black gold and spring wont come......... I will quit whining now......

My H&R .22 Mags like Winchester Black box and Silver box best, followed VERY closely by CCI Maxi Mag. Surprisingly they also shoot the Armscor stuff pretty well also. I found about 5-6 boxes of it cheap on a closeout table and bought it as as cheap blasting ammo but soon learned it shot pretty well....<><....:)

I've been using mine to control the groundhog population around here. Using Federal Game-Shok 50gr. JHPs, the groundhogs don't stand a chance.

mine is about 10 years old andit is the most accurate gun ive ever used with 32 grain remington accu tips.im not the best shooter but i can hit a squirrels eye at 30 yards easily.my longest shots was a squirrel at about 50 steps dirrectly in the eye and a crow at well over 100 yards.i paid 103 dollars for it at walmart and put a tasco high country 3x9 scope and weaver rings.in my opinion it is the best hunting rifle ever made.i dont see no way to improve on mine
