Have worked in special education teaching and related jobs and with adult disability services since 1977. Did sell tires for a couple of years. Volunteer work with what used to be called the Association for Retarded Citizens, now simply known as ARC, Lions Club, Wichita Soaring Association, and the Moto Guzzi Owners Club (usually able to help with the annual state rally).

Pat/Rick,

My Resume:
Fiber glass grinder -Boat repair.
Boat /US sales and Ast Manager
Raypak Boilers outside sales
Rep firm - Outside sales of boilers, pumps, and system accessories.
(basicly, I pay 65% in total taxes every year)

Now I understand that we need teachers and I have a quite a few good ones.
What has me upset is if I want a raise I need to show that I am worth it.  That I bring more into the company than I am asking for.  With the whole education system not teaching, how can you walk up the governments boss, the tax payers and ask for a raise?  Teach the kids get 99% of the kids leaving High school ready for college or the real world. ale to read, write, do basic math, understand  the benefits of capitalist ecomonics, citizenship, and this countries history.
Don't tell me that if you doule a teachers salary that the kids will learn more.  Get the kids to graduate able the function and think and we can talk about doubling your salary or adding better benefits.  With smart functioning students leaving high school we will have a functioning work base that can support moderate taxes that promote growth and will sustain higher teacher salaries and benefits.

Out of high school one year for a tire recapping company. Then five years working heavy construction building bridges, and other work involving concrete work. Then six years for an asphalt company, building, repairing and paving roads. Then the last 24 years, and present, working at a natural gas compressor station, as an engine mechanic.

30 years in Operations Supply Chain, Procurement, Logistics, Materials Planning & Manufacturing. Currently serving as the Executive Director of Worldwide Logistics & Distribution for a global high technology corporation here in the Silicon Valley.

2005 to 2008: Mid level executive at Apple Computer HQ with global procurement responsibilities. Also here in the valley.

1981 to 2005: I was with Sperry Corporation and then Unisys Corp after the merger in 1988. Held various positions in two locations over this 24 year period. Chicago and later Pennsylvania HQ. My last position was as Managing Director for a operational business unit that drove global out-sourcing strategies/initiatives as well as acquisition approaches.

I've also been a part owner in a hunting/fishing guiding small resort operation for a number of years in the late 90's to around 2004. This was more of a hobby for me that paid. I've also done some guiding work for freinds in the hunting business. More of vacation time spent working doing what I really enjoy....hunting.

No. I ended up in Blue Bell PA which was worldwide HQ. The division in New Holland was called Sperry New Holland. That was the farm implement division. That division was sold off prior to the merger in 88. If my memory serves me correct, they were sold to Ford. Its still there the last time I looked into it but Ford spun them off and I beleive they are a stand alone now. A mere shadow of what it used to be. I was in the computer division which was Sperry Univac.

Whats your connection to New Holland?

I have relatives that worked in the SperryPlant there. You're correct, they were sold to Ford. Blue Ball is a happening town. Hope it wasn't too wild for you. I'm sure you went to the Shady Maple Smorg. once or twice.

I do remember that place. I always liked the Blue Bell Inn and the Washington House in Perkaise. Outstanding food and very historical old stage coach inns. The history in that area is amazing. I lived a mile from an old farmstead (Peter Wentz Farmstead) that Washington himself stayed at during the war. Amazing area if you like American History.

I work for a local level (county) government as an Information Technology Project Manager.  Essentially, I implement new software projects as they come in, and usually administrate the systems/servers for those projects after they go live.  Patching the systems, updating configs, writing reports/queries, implementing custom code to do things as needed. (such as integrate the data between multiple systems).  I also prepare any FOIA requests that come in for systems that I'm in charge of.  Most of my focus these days in in supporting the software used by the assessor's office (ie, appraisal of properties for taxing purposes), and the planning/zoning office (building permits, inspections, and code violations).  I also dabble in a few other systems (emergency preparedness, email, mobile devices, etc).  It also looks like I may be tacking a complete revamp of the tax billing and collections systems pretty soon too.  The old system is a custom written mainframe setup from the early 80's that is starting to show it's age.

GuzziJohn

Hod carrier: someone who does everything a brick mason doesn't do and they pretty much jusst lay brick, block, and stone. Setting up scaffolding, mixing mortar, getting the masonry where it needs to go for the mason to use. Watch a fireplace or block building being built, masons are laying whatever and a hod carrier is doing the rest.

Gandy dancer:  track laborer for the RR, digging out and changing ties, laying rail, track maintenance, etc. Good hard physical work that makes a guy appreciate his supper.

Out of high school i went to work in a wood shop. Left there for another wood shop that paid better. Hated the place. Went to work for Bell Aircraft makeing fiber glass parts for helicopters. 4 years there and got laid off along with 600 others. Went to work for a chemical company. An explosion closed that place down. Went to work for another chemical company.  A friend of mine was working for a company that made fruit and vegetable packaging machines. Said they were building a new automatic machine and needes some one to work on it. Was there for 21 years. Got in a little arguement with there new foreman. Told him he was an idiot and he fired me. Drove school bus for the next seven years. My wife got sick and had to retire so i needed a job with benefits. Went to work for a company that made fiber glass parts for rail road cars. Most unsafe place i ever worked. Left there and went to work for Brinks driveing armored truck. They laid 8 people off and cut me to 3 days a week. Wasn't worth the 70 mile round trip drive.  Went to a company that makes zip lock bags. Retired from there in 2008. Now i play on the computer and wait for my social security check. ;D

I would guess you haven't had the need to spend much money on gyms to stay in shape. I knew a guy that did hod work, just never heard him refer to it as that I guess.

Since the 5th of August 1987 been in the Air Force doing various IT jobs.  Part time jobs as a janitor for a year and laying modular carpet for 3 years.

Have absolutely NO idea what I'll be doing next month.  I have 15 days left until I put on civilian clothes.

I'd rather it not be TOO exciting... would rather it be boringly monotonous as in... I hope I don't have to go without work too long.  I'm covered with active duty pay until 01 July and then...  Well, let's hope that I get something in the next month.  Definitely closing a chapter of the book.  Pretty soon I'll be the old guy holding up the line in the commissary!.
