Model 1894
« on: March 09, 2011, 06:06:48 PM »
I have a Model 1984 chambered in 30 WCF with a pitted barrel.  The serial number is 296xxx and it is a carbine with an octogon barrel.  Is it possible to have this gun rebarreled?  I've also considered having the barrel relined.  Any thoughts would be appreciated.  Thanks

The serial # puts it around 1904 so I would think twice before changing anything on it.
Being a carbine with an oct barrel, if original, would be worth some $$$.
Shoot it with lead bullets, you might be supprised how well it will shoot, even with a pitted barrel.

I agree with Long Tom.  Once you've worked up an accurate cast bullet load, don't feel that you are undergunned for deer hunting.  A decent cast bullet load may not make impressive chronograph readings, but it'll kill deer just as dead as a jacketed bullet will if you do your part.
