« on: March 10, 2011, 04:36:02 AM »
Good morning
I wish to order bases for handi rifle extractor barrels. Is the correct weaver number 82?
Didn't get an answer from search. G66

Yes it is #82 for the weaver base.   You can find the info in the FAQ section.

If you're gonna order a base, get a Leupold or H&R unless you want to mount a shotgun scope ahead of the hammer, that's about the only good thing about the Weaver #82. The lack of the rear slot on the Weaver makes it a poor choice for conventional scope mounting for hammer clearance.  ;) Optics Planet even has the Leupold on sale for $6.99.  ;D

The Leupold Rifleman rings and mounts used to be made up here in Michigan by a company called Custom Quality Mounts.  You could pick them up for 6 or 7 bucks, built like a truck and a real bargin.  Leupold bought them out about 9 years ago, now the same rings list for $18.  Still good rings, but preferred it when they were unknown.

Rifleman weaver style rings are $12 at Walmart, they aren't the best rings, but seem to work fine, they don't show them online, but are available in store.

Thanks for the info. I'll stay away from the weaver #82. Will try Optics Planet. Most everyone is out of bases anyway.
Who makes the ones on the new Handi barrels? Last parts from Remington took 5 weeks for delivery(sights and screws)

I dunno who makes the rail, Uncle Mike's makes the hammer extension that comes with it tho, Brownells is the only source I could find that has them in stock.

I like the ironsighter base.  Has 8 slots in it and will mount weaver type rings or 22 rimfire rings.  Probably has the most adjustment other than the warne mount which is fairly spendy.  This one is 12.99.

I've got a couple of Weaver 82s scattered around on my Handis, and their a pain in the butt.  Your're forever cutting new notches in them.
