.30-30 Muzzle flash
«

Of all my rifles my .30-30 win 94 gives the biggest flash of them all. Shooting in the dark, the flash lights up the surrounding in front of the rifle. Has any one else noticed?

The test was done in a safe environment. And i have no plans whatsoever to hunt or do target practise in the dark
. Just when i noticed i had to compare to a .223 and a 6.5x55

My 44 Marlin with a heavy load of H110 will 'light up' the scope view on a cloudy day.
I don't notice it when shooting on a sunny day. I don't notice it with other powders as much. Must be getting a lot of out of barrel powder burn. Shoots goo though.

In general shorter barrels and/or slower powders and/or lighter bullets = more muzzle flash.
A short barreled 30-06 shooting 150 gr bullets over H-4831 powder makes a pretty impressive flash. Go to 180's and RL-15 or IMR 4350 and it's a lot less.
