27 Billion Barrels Of Oil
« on: March 10, 2011, 11:11:51 AM »
I went to an energy conferance yesterday.  The Alaskan members were furious when they heard the numbers.  The oil industry wants to drill for the oil, but the government regulators won't let them.

That's right, 27 Billion barrels of oil.  This find is documented and proven up on.  It is located on the outer continental shelf, off Alaska's Northern Coast.  And the Obama administration's EPA won't let it be taken out of the ground.  Shell oil has the drilling platform in place and the materials are on site.  All they need to do is Bring the personnel on board and start the drills.  Their permit was pulled for reevaluation by the EPA a few weeks ago at the 11th hour.

I heard about this when the EPA pulled the permit, but I did not know the volumn of oil that had been discovered.  Here we are paying over $4.00 a gallon for gas, Diesel, and Heating Oil.  The EPA is placing fines on our borough for not meeting their clean air standards, because some of us are burning wood in lou of expensive heating oil.  We are just trying to stay warm at 30 and 40 below.  The Alaska Oil Pipeline is running at 1/3 capacity.  There is enough oil there to make us totally independent of foreign oil.

Our fear is that since America has not approved the claim of the area, and refuse to actively drill, is that the Chinese will move in.

A 'Veteran' -- whether active duty, discharged, retired, or reserve -- is someone who, at one point in his life, wrote a blank check made payable to 'The United States of America,' for an amount of 'up to, and including his life.' That is honor, and there are way too many people in this country today who no longer understand that fact.

They should drill all over the state of Alaska...offshore, too!  Heck, the Alaskans don't mind, the Federal Government can use the taxes on the oil pumped to pay down the national debt, and we in the lower-48 won't be losing any of our hunting spots to oil rigs.  It is a big WIN-WIN!

But you must understand that it just wouldn't be fair for us to use that oil, because we already are the worlds biggest consumer.  We need to share and be green.
